The Zurich fire department were called to the scene, and in this photo one of the firemen, Elroy Desjardine, is seen as he pours a flipper of water down the chimney to extinguish the blaze. Hensall Women's Institute Name New Slate of Officers For Coming Term President Mrs. Clarence Reid presided for the annual metting of Hensel. Womens Institute, held last We,lresday, in the Legion Hall. Members responded to the roll call with payment of fees. Standing reports were presented. Mrs. R. M. Peck was appointed to the committee of the District Historical Society. Mrs. R. A. I Orr reported for the Huronview Auxiliary. Mrs. Robert Elgie for the spring board meeting in Hensel'. Plans were discussed for the district annual to be held at Elim- viile, May 22. Mrs. Fred Beer, Mrs. Robert Elgie, Mrs. Peck, and Mrs. Wilbert Dilling were appoint- ed as delegates. Achievement Day will be held in Central School, Brucefield, on Saturday, May 24, at 1:15 p.m. Mrs. Beer presided for the program which included highlights of her week end Easter vacation in Washington. Piano duet was given by Linda Beer, and a piano solo by Linda Bell. Mrs. Dilling gave courtesy re- marks, and Mrs. Beer conducted contests. Mrs. Harry Horton, and !Mrs. Elizabeth Riley's group were (winners. Mrs. Peck brought the 1969-70 slate of officers and Mrs. Beverly Beaton conducted the installation. Past president, Mrs. V. M. Hensail Kinettes Plan Rummage The Hensel' Kinettes met April 19 at the home of Mrs. Robert jCaldwell, for their April meeting. Reports were given on the shut-in visits and the visit to Ontario Hospital, Goderich, to entertain residents. Plans were made for the spring rummage sale, to be held on Friday evening, May 2. A donation was given to the local firemen for the fireworks display in May. Election of officers for 1969-70 are as follows: past president, Mrs. Ron Wareing; president, Mrs. Harold Knight; secretary, Mrs. Alvin Campbell; treasurer, Mis. John Baker; registrar, Mrs. Murray Baker; bulletin editor, Mrs. Ron Wareing. The Womens Missionary Society of Carmel Presbyterial Church held their April meeting in the Sunday School room, Monday vening, with Vice-president Mrs eorge Walz opening the meeting ith a prayer. Mrs. Rochus aber and Mrs. Archie Hoggarth gave the study and devotional on he theme of "Easter." A duet was beautifully sung by rs. Malcolm Dougall and yrs. earl Love. "In the Garden." Thirteen members answered the roll call with "Hope" Correspondence was read inclu- ding used cancelled stamps to be saved for the Leprosy, which will help to stamp out Leprosy. The ladies were all in favor of this project. Mrs. Gordon Schwalm will continue to receive these tamps from all who will gladly contibute. Several ladies are attending the Synodical of London and amilton in Knox Church, God- erich, this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
