on Saturday night went to Scott
Armstrong, four-year old son of
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Armstrong,
Zurich. Scott was dressed as a
man from outer space.
Kitchen Kuties
Visit Meat Plant

The sixth meeting of the Zur-
ich Kitchen Kuties was held on
March 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the
home of Mrs. Oke.
Two members did not answer
the roll call which was "Name
one cut of meat and its method of
cooking."
Our achievement Day is to be
at Brucefield on May 24. Plans
were completed for our bus trip
to Schneiders.
We dicsussed ground meat and
leftover meats and how to serve
them in appetizing dishes.
Joan Finkbeiner 's group cooked
liver after Debbie Hogg's group
made meatloaf.
Our next meeting is Wednesday
March 26, at 7:00 p.m. at the
home of Mrs. Oke.
On Thursday, March 20, at
8:00 a.m. , the bus left Zurich
taking the 4-H groups of Zurich
and Dashwood to Schneiders in
Kitchener. We arrived there
around 10:00 a.m. and were div-
ided into two groups. We saw hoH
they cut up meat, grade it, pack-
' age it and load it into•trucks.
They were also preparing chickens
to sell. They gave us, all choc-
olate milk and a 'pound of lard.
We ate our lunch and left Kit-
chener at 2:00 p.m. and arrived
in Mitchell to tour Stacey Bros.
milk factory. Here we were
divided into three groups. Here
we saw where they make powder-
ed milk, cheese, butter, and how
they test cream.
They treated us to chocolate
milk also..
We arrived back in Zurich
around 3:30 p.m. after a very
interesting trip.

I Zurich Peewees Win Semi-final Round
But Lose to Copetown in Final Game
The Zurich Peewees won their
semi-final series in the Goderich
young Canada Hockey Tournamen•
on Saturday be defeating the high-
ly rated Belmont Peewees by a
score of 5-4, but a couple of hours
later they were downed 8-4 by a
powerful Copetown crew in the
championship contest. The locals
had only a couple of hours rest
between their tough victory over
Belmont and the final game ag-
ainst Copetown, and their legs
just wouldn't stand up to the
pressure.
In defeating Belmont, last year':
tournament winners in the D cat-
egory, the Zurich crew had to
come from behind and stage a
determined third period effort to
earn the victory. They scored
three big goals in the third.
Belmont scored three goals in
the first period, before Bill Bedard
finally found the range for Zurich.
Pat Bedard scored the only goal
of the second period, just after
the session started.
At the 1.58 mark in the third
period, Kim McKinnon scored
his first of two goals to tie the'
game at 3-3, but Belmont came
right back with another counter
at 4.07. Gerald Weido tied the
score at 4-4 at the 6.27 mark,
and then Kim McKinnon carne
up with the big winning goal
just 21 seconds later.
A good exhibition of defensive
hockey for the last eight minutes
of the game provided results, as
the locals managed to hold Bel-
mont off the scoresheet.
Only two penalties were hand-
ed out , both going to Belmont.
Copetown, a suburb of Hamilton,
came up with three goals in the
first period, another in the second
and then four more in the third to
down the game , but tired, Zur-
ich crew in the championship
battle. Zurich scored one in the
second and then finished off
strong with three more in the
third.
Gerald Weido was the big
spark for Zurich with two goals,
while Derek O'Brien and Pat
Bedard each registered. once.
Three penalties were called,
• with two going to the huskier
Copetown crew.

Police Report
The Exeter Detachment of the
Ontario Provincial Police in-
vestigated four accidents during
the week of March 16 to March 22
in which one person was fatally
injured anci,,three other persons
were injured. The fatality was
that of Orville J. Ford, R.R.1 Hay.
On Friday March 21, at 6:15 p.zr
a car operated by James Knox of
Exeter went out of control on the
ice on No. 83 Highway, east of
Exeter and went through a farm
fence on. the north side of the
road. Damage estimated at
05. Provincial. Constable E. C.
Wilcox investigated.
On Friday, March 21, at 10:00
p.m. a car operated by Mary Bon-
in of Brantford, went out of con-
trol on No. 83 Highway on the
slippery road surface and rolled
over into the north ditch. Damage
was estimated at $200. Provincial
Constable E. C. Wilcox investigat-
ed.
On Saturday, March 22, at
12:30 p.m. a car operated by
Philip W. Davis of Dashwood,
collided with the stump of a pole
on concession 12-13 in the village
of Dashwood. Damage was
estimated at $110. Provincial
Constable D.A. Lamont invest-
igated.
During_the weeK the detach-
ment laid 40 charges under the
highway traffic act, and one
under the Criminal Code of Can-
ada. There were 17 warnings
handed out under the Highway
Traffic Act.
The detachment investigated
three break-ins; two thefts, and
10 other offences. A total of
235 hours was spent on duty and
the detachment patrolled 2084
miles of road.
