Zurich 4-H Club See interesting Stam (by Debra Hogg) On Wednesday, January 29, at 7:30 p.m., all the 4-H members from Zurich and Varna and their mothers enjoyed a film in the Zur- ich Town Hall, entitled a "Woman's Place". The film was shown by Miss Susan Heard, 'home economist for Huron County, and was a preview to the forthcoming club, entitled, "Meat' in the Menu". Following the film the home economist answered questions from the audience, .and refreshments were served. Hogg. The lead- ers of this club are Mrs. Hogg and Mrs. Don Oke. The president, Dianne Klopp; secretary, Nancy Dignan, and treas- urer, Helen Blackwell, were elected to •office. There are 17 girls join- ing this club. Mrs. Hogg outlined the course of study for •this unit, "Meat in the Menu". We discussed, "the jobs food must •do", "meat and its value as food", "meat structure", "factors for tender meat", and "what meat gives us". Mrs. Oke had two groups of girls demonstrated how to meas- ure dry and wet ingredients. The meeting closed with the 4-1-1 pledge and a light lunch was served. The second meeting of the Zurich IV 4-11 Club opened with the 4-11 pledge on Wednesday, February 12, at 7:00 p.m., in the home of Mrs. Jim Hogg. The group's annual meeting was held in Egmondvilie. Mrs. Klumpp, a past vice-presi- dent, was invited to become a di- rector of the CAS 12 years ago, Although the work is time consum- ing, Mrs. Klumpp has a great in- terest in CAS affairs. With four members of county council, the CAS directors watch over children in care, unwed mothers and families in distress throughout the county. Mrs. Klumpp noted that strictest care is taken to be certain that cases are discussed in generalities with- out the use of names or addresses. Other executive elected: honor- ary president, Mrs. Albert Taylor, Goderich; vice-presidents, Clarence Hanna, Belgrave; Mrs. Douglas Bartliff, Clinton; secretary -treas- urer, William Hanly, Goderich. Directors for 1969 are: Mrs. Taylor; Mrs. Kenneth Johns, Ex- eter; Mrs. Frank Finglan, Clinton; Mrs. Mervyn Cuamore, Exeter; Mrs. Maurice Bean, Auburn; Mrs. Joseph Kerr, Wingham; Mrs. Pa- trick Osborn, Goderich; James Doig, Seaforth; Gordon McGavin, Walton; Rev. G. Wright, Dungan- non; Clifford Dunbar, Ethel, and Mrs. G. P. A. Evans, Goderich. Appointed municipal represen- tatives were all reeves, Alvin Smith, Turnberry Township; J. P. Alexander, Wingham; Lloyd Hend- rick, Hay Township, and Melville Allan, Howick Township. Guest speaker for the occasion was Dr. Finlay G. Stewart, Kitch- ener. Other officials present were Warden and Mrs. James Hayter, Dashwood; Seaforth mayor, Frank Sills; Tuckersmith reeve, Elgin Thompson; Turnberry reeve. A. D. Snaith, and Herbert B. Such, of Goderich. Foster parents given special mention during the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Dalmage, Seaforth, who, over a 12 -year peri- od, have provided temporary homes for 12 children. One youngster stayed for four years prior to adoption. Statistics showed that 98 chil- dren were taken into care through- out the year and 80 were returned to parents.
