Byran Bonthron left Wednesday
of last week by plane for Nassau,
where he has accepted a position
with the Trust Corporation of the
Bahamas Islands. Mrs. ' Bonthron,
Christopher and Kathryn will join
him there in the near future,
The girls of the bowling team
pleasantly surprised Mrs. Mary
Taylor at her home on her 81st
birthday, and presented her with
a potted plant of mums, by Mrs.
Clarence Reid. Lunch was served,
convened by Mrs. Grant McClin-
chey.
Mrs. Ross McNichoI is a patient
in South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Miss Ann Mickle, UWO, London,
spent the week -end with her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle.
Robert Mickle, London, and Miss
Lynee Crouch, Arva, were guests
Sunday.
The World Day of Prayer will
be held in the Fellowship Hall of
the United Church, Friday, March
7, at 3 p.m.
Mrs. Ada Smillie, a resident of
the Blue Water Rest Home, Zur-
ich, celebrated her 84th birthday,
on Thursday at the home of her
Son Clarence. and his family, at
"Smiling Acres": She was the re-
cipient of many congratulatory
messages and greetings from rel-
atives and friends.

in town on Saturday, while here
they visited with Mrs. Smillie at
the Blue Water Rest Home.
Loyal Orange Lodge
Send Protest to MP
The annual meeting of the South
Huron Loyal Orange Lodge was
held in Varna on Wednesday eve•
ning last week and a large repre-
sentive of the various Lodges were
present. Frank Falconer, county
master, presided over the meeting.
A strong resolution was drawn
up and sent to the member of par-
liament, Robert E. McKinley, pro-
testing against the sending of an
envoy to the Vatican as it would
further divide the Canadian peo
ple and the money could be used
to better purpose.
The election of officers were
held and the results are: IPM,
Frank Falconer, Clinton; WM,
Wayne Smith, Hensall; DM, Russel
Page, Grand Bend; chaplan. Alex
Hamilton, Grand Bend; recording
secretary, Charles Ruffell, Goder-
ich; financial secretary, John Hend-
erson, Brucefield; treasurer, Ivan
McClymont, Varna; marshal, Ron-
ald Denham, Woodham; assistant
marshal, Watson Webster, Varna;
first lecturer, Fred Jamieson,
Woodham; second lecturer, Lloyd
Hern, Exeter.
The officers were installed by
Henry Pattison, Wingham, county
master of North Huron, assisted
by William Dickey, of Woodham.
The regular meeting of Amber
Rebekah Lodge was held in the
Lodge Hall, Wednesday, February
10, presided over by noble grand
Mrs. Earl Campbell. On the occa.
sion of the 20th birthday anni-
versary, special guests were offi-
cers and members of Morning Star
Lodge, Brussels, including Mrs.
Mary Lowe, district deputy, presi-
dent, of Brussels.
Noble grand Mrs. R. Ritchie, of
Brussels Lodge, presented the
travelling gavel to Mrs. Earl Camp-
bell, noble grand of Amber Re-
bekah Lodge, Hensel'.
Following the meeting, progres-
sive euchre was played and the
winners were: Mrs. Edna Caldwell;
Mrs. Jean Fraser, Brussels; lone
hands, Mrs. Jean Bridge, Brussels,
for euchre; oldest member present,
Mrs. Dunbar, of Brussels, over 80,
who was district deputy president
and instituted this lodge 20 years
ago. She had the honor of cutting
the birthday cake. Mrs. Vera
Thompson, of Brussels, won the
lucky cup and Mrs. Stewart Black-
well had the nearest wedding an-
niversary.
This lodge is invited to Brussels
Lodge, April 2, when the assembly
president will visit the Lodge. A
CP&T euchre is planned for Feb-
ruary 27.

The first 441 meeting of the
Goshen Gourmets was held Feb-
ruary 12, at 7:00 p.m., at the home
of Mrs. Robinson.
The election of officers include
Agnes Lempiere as president;
Cathy 'McKinley as secretary, and
Rita Pennings as treasurer.
The discussion included such
topics as working procedures, dish-
washing, accurate measuring tech-
niques and Canada's Food Guide
for Health. A week earlier we had
viewed a film on meat, in the Zur-
ich Town Hall, which was very
informative and interesting.
Mrs. Robinson served a eold
meat loaf with biscuits which was
very good. The nexa meeting was
set for Wednesday, February 19,
at 7:00 p.m.

PURPOSE OF THE MEETING
To present the Annual Statement for the fiscal year ending
November 30, 1968.
To verify disposition of the 1968 Surplus — of $32,422.0+0. The
Board of Directors have declared a 2% patronage dividend.
To elect three directors for a term of three years. The terms
of Elgin Hendrick and Donald Campbell have expired and James
Drummond retired last year. Don Campbell, having completed six
years on the board, will not be eligible for re-election.
To consider and if thought advisable, to confirm, with or
without variation, an amendment to Section 4 of Article VI of the
General by-laws to increase the interest rate on additional monies
borrowed from members from 6 to '7 per centum per annum.
To deal with such other business as may be properly dealt:
with at this time.
