What promises to be the best
playoff series in the history of the
Zurich Arena opens here on Sun•
day afternoon, when Lambeth
Flyers and the Zurich Dominions
meet in the OHA Junior D semi•
final series. In the past four games
of the regular schedule with each
other, the two teams both won two
games, and are very e v e n l y

confident they can upset the pow-

is 2 p.m.
The second and third games of
the series will be played back in
Lambeth on Monday and Wednes-
day nights, February 17 and 19,
with the fourth game scheduled
tentatively for Zurich on Sunday
afternoon, February 23.
First place Belmont will meet
third place Mitchell in the other
series in the semi-finals. Lambeth
finished in second place, and Zur-
ch in fourth. Only in the last
couple of weeks has the Zurich
crew came to life, and they prom-
ise to be strong contenders in the
playoffs.
Lambeth 7—Zurich 5
The Dominion blew an early 5-0
lead in. Lambeth on Monday night,
as the Flyers roared back strong
with seven straight goals to ring
up a 7-5 victory in the last game
of the regular schedule.

and John McKinley, Paul Corriveau
and Stew Mustard, with one each,
gave Zurich a 5-0 lead by the four -
minute mark of the second period.
Then flashy Reg Thomas took over
for Lambeth, and before the peri-
od ended he had scored four goals
in 14 minutes.
Thomas banged in his fifth goal
early in the third period to tie the
score at 5-5, before Terry Davis
took over and slipped in two more
for Lambeth. The Flyers out -shot
Zurich 34-24, and had it not been
for outstanding work in the Zurich
nets by Rick Jeffrey the score
might have been still worse in the
last period and a half.
Only 12 penalties were handed
out in the game, with eight of

Page scored for Hensall to give
them a 2-1 lead. Midway through
the period Gerald Weido tied the
score at 2-2.
Billy Bedard shot Zurich into a
3-2 lead early in the third period,
only to have Buchanan score his
second goal of the game for Hen-
sall, to tie the score. Midway
through the period the Zurich crew
caught fire and scored three quick
goals, one by Pat Bedard and then
two in a row by Kim McKinnon,
to ring up their 6-3 victory.
Stephen Bedour, in the Zurich
nets, made several spectacular
saves to help the locals rack up
their win.
Three penalties were called in
the game, with two to Zurich and
one. to Hensall.
While no definite word had been
received by press time, the Zurich
crew will in all probability meet
Paisley in the semi-final round for
the WOOA championship.
PEEWEES WIN, 8-2
The Zurich' Peewees won the
first game of their best -of -three
series with Hensall Peewees Iast
Friday night, by a score of 8-2.
The game was played in Hensall.
Gerald Weido, with three goals,
was the spark in the Zurich at-
tack, while Kim McKinnon and Pat
Bedard each scored twice. Billy
Bedard accounted for the extra
counter.
Zurich went one goal up early
in the game on a goal by McKin-
non, but before the session ended
Hensall had came back strong to
tie it up, with Jamie Caldwell
blinking the red light.
Pat Bedard gave Zurich a 2-1
lead early in the second, but less
than a minute later Danny Turvey
scored for Hensall to tie the count
at 2-2. At this point the Zurich
gang started rolling end before the
period ended they scored two more
goals.
In the third period Gerald Weido
scored a neat goal when he was
awarded a penalty shot for being
tripped in front of the Hensall
goal. He made no mistake as he
skated in on Fred Campbell in the
Hensell net, deked him out of
position and flipped the puck into
the empty corner. The penalty
shot seemed to ignite the flashy
right-winger, andbefore the period
ended he had scored two more
goals.
Only two penalties were Banded
out in the game, with both going
to Zurich.

Lambeth 6—Zurich 1
Last Thursday night Zurich
went to Lambeth without defence -
men Don Bartliff and Bruce
Schoenhals, and came out on the
short end of a 6-1 soore. It wasn't
until the third period that the Do-
minions really missed the two
rugged defencemen, when Lam-
beth banged in four of their goals.
Randy Ellerick gave Lambeth a
1-0 lead in the first period, when
he scored at the 17:20 mark. In
the second Reg Thomas scored at
the 7:28 mark, and then Grant
Dufty scored in the third at the
:35 second mark, before Bill Stirl-
ing finally found the range for
Zurich.
Two goals by Bruce Mitchell and
another by Ellerick was all the
Flyers needed to ring up their
margin of victory. The Lambeth
crew were really fired up for the
game, which was the first one
played in their new arena. They
had previously lost two in a row'
to Zurich after riding a winning
streak over the past couple of
months which saw them in first
place most of the season.
A total of 32 penalties were
handed out by the same incom-
petent referee that gave Zurich a
rought time in Belmont a tr:craple
of weeks ago. Included in the
total were a game misconduct and
two majors for fighting to Lambeth
and a ten -misconduct and two ma•
jors for fighting to Zurich.
The Dominions will be back. at
full strength for the first game
of the playoffs on Sunday after-
noon, and would greatly appreciate
a full -house at the local arena.
