sented week -day mornings on the CBC -TV network. The

JANUARY, 1959
Ross Love was elected as presi-
dent of Hay Township Federation
of Agriculture, and Elmer Hayter
of Stanley Township group, when
the organizations held a joint an-
nual meeting and banquet in the
Zurich Community •Centre.
Rev. A. M. Amacher, of Zurich,
attended the annual meeting of
the Lord's Day Alliance Act, held
in Toronto last Wednesday.
Believed to be the oldest resi-
dent of Zurich, William Rader cele-
brated his 90th birthday recently.
Hay Township reeve, V. L. Beck-
er, was appointed chairman of the
Huron County Home committee, at
the sessions of county council held
last week in Goderich.
Ben Rathwell was elected chair-
man of the Bayfield Cemetery
Company, when the annual meet-
ing of the group was held last
Wednesday night.
Ken Mittelholtz, Bob Merner and
Edgar Steinbach left on Monday
for Florida, where they plan on
spending a couple of weeks vaca-
tioning.

JANUARY, 1919
Mr. E. Appel is having his store
in Zurich wired for hydro service,
which should prove to be of great
benefit to him,
Ward Fritz, Lloyd O'Brien and
Lennis Calfas left Zurich for
Kitchener last week, where all
three have secured employment.
At the annual meeting of the
Zurich Agricultural Society, E. F.
Klopp was elected as president,
with vice-presidents being Casper
Waiper and J. Decker, Jr,
Mr. and Mrs. William Rader and
daughter, of the 15th concession,
Hay, have moved into their fine
home in the village of Zurich.
George Douglas has sold his
flour, feed and coal business in
Hensall to Robert J. Paterson, a
mile south of Hensall, who takes

JANUARY, 1929
An interesting matrimonial event
took place at the Lutheran parson-
age, Zurich, last Thursday evening,
when Irene, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. J. Decker, Jr., of the Goshen
Line, became the bride of Theodore
Steinbach, son of Mr, and Mrs.
Henry Steinbach, of Zurich.
The vital statistics for Hay Town-
ship for the year 1928, just con-
cluded, are, births, 60; deaths, 26,
and marriages, 17.
Dan Gascho, the popular delivery
man for the Haist Bakery, in Zur-
ich, is sporting a fine new Ford
delivery rig, 'which is indeed a
nifty outfit.
Menno .Desch has accepted a
position as a sales clerk in the
general store of T. L. Wurm, in
Zurich.
The Hensall firemen held their
annual meeting last week, at which
time they elected Charles Moore,
as chief of their brigade.
25 Years Ago
JANUARY, 1944
Bert Klopp was elected as presi
dent of the Hay Federation of
Agriculture when the annual meet-
ing was held in the Hay Township
Hall, Zurich.
Ralph Krueger and Ken Parke
won prizes for speed skating at
the ' big skating carnival held in
Zurich, sponsored by the Red Cross.
Delores Klopp and Joyce Mousseau
won the speed contests for girls.
Sgt. Charles Hay, who is on the
police force in the Armed Forces,
has returned to duty at an eastern
point after spending a leave at the
home of his parents in Zurich.
Mrs. William -Chapman, of Hay
Township, has taken up residence
in Hensall and is getting nicely
settled in her new location.
At the annual meeting of the
Varna branch of the Red Cross
Society, it was pointed out that
receipts last year totalled almost
$2,000.
15 Years Ago
JANUARY, 1954
On Tuesday night in the Sea -
forth Arena, the Zurich Flyers
beat Hensall (made up of mostly
Seaforth players) by a score of
7-4. They have one more game to
play before the playoffs begin.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnston
are moving today into the large
spacious home they recently pur-
chased from Dr. T. Keast, of Sarnia.
Mr. Johnston will operate his bar-
ber shop in the front part of the
buildings.
Dr. and Mrs. W. B. Coxon spent
last week at East Lansing, where
the former attended the annual
conference for veterinarians.
William Decker, of Hay Town-
ship, was elected president of the
South Huron Agricultural Society,
at the annual meeting held in
Hensall.
Lorne E. Elder, a native of Hen-
sall, has been oppointed chief en-
gineer and works manager of the
Wallace Barnes Company, in Ham-
ilton.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Erratt, of
Staney Township, accombanied by
Mr. and Mrs. Roy McBride, left
on a trip to Florida, where they
will spend about one month vaca-
tioning.
