Dashwood WI
The December meeting of the
Dashwood WI was held Tues-
day. December 3, at the Blue
Water Rest Home with the ex-
ecutive in charge and the presi-
dent, Mrs. Glenn Webb. chair -
lady.
A program of songs by the
teenagers and smaller children
was presented: also accordion
selections, piano duets, a skit,
and reading.
G'ts were distributed to the
ones with birthdays and birth-
day cake and ice cream were
served.
A business session followed
1uneh. Mrs• Howard Maier re-
ported en the London area con-
vention. The ladies were asked
to bring old nylons, cards, mag-
azines and old jewellery to the
January meeting to be sent to

A.A.L. Annual Meeting
The local branch of the AAL

held their annual meeting on
Wednesday, December 4, when
the following officers were elect-
ed: president, Charles Martene;
vice-president, Reinhold Miller;
secretary; -treasurer, Ken Keller,
,Bunco was played with high
prizes going to Mrs. Charles
Martene and Charles Martene;
low prizes, Jayne Hayter and
Rev. E. E. Steinman: lucky
draw, Peter Steinman.
4-H Achievement Day
Dashwood 4-H girls made a
fine appearance at Achievement
Day in Zurich Community Cen-
tre. Three girls received pro-
vincial honors: Margaret Mer.ner,
Eleanor Wolfe and Sheila Wil-
lert. Tcvo girls, Marjorie Schenk
and Marie Andersen, received
county honors. Mrs. Eben Wei-
gand received her five-year cer-
tificate as leader.

attended the reeves' supper at
Crediton Community Centre on
Wednesday, December 4.
Mrs. Cora Gaiser has returned
home after spending several
weeks with Rev. and Mrs. Bruce
Seebach and family, of .Ham-
ilton.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Horton
and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lobb,
Randy and Ronda, all of Clin-
ton, were Sunday visitors with
Mr. and Mrs Ross Love

Regular meeting of Amber
Rebekah Lodge was held Wed-
nesday evening, December 4,
followed with a Christmas par-
ty, The .lodge hall was decor-
ated in Christmas emblems.
Noble grand Mrs. Earl Camp-
bell chaired the meeting. A don-
ation was given to the War
Memorial Children's Hospital,
London. The meeting was in-
formed that a walker for ben-
evolent work has been ordered.
Christmas plants will be given
to sick and shut-ins of the com-
munity. A cheque has been re-
ceived from "Act Fast", CFPL-
TV. The Sunshine Secret Pal
party will be held Wednesday,
January 18.
The January meeting' which
falls on January 1 will be can-
celled.
'CPS.T committee sponsored a
successful euchre Thursday eve-
ning. After the meeting a
Christmas program and carol
singing was held and a Christ-
mas lunch served.

Two film strips, "What Can
I Believe" and "Christian Com-
mitment", formed the back-
ground for the disccussion peri-
od at the "Ili -C" meeting in
Fellowship .hall on Sunday eve-
ning, The committee in charge
were Garry Alderdice, Bill Hoy
and Joey Reaburn.
"Hymns with a beat" were
used during the singing period.
Bill Hoy read a very timely
article on, "our responsibility
to the less fortunate peoples
around the world at Christmas
time".
Mary Mock and Donna For-
rest volunteered to trim the
Christmas tree in the church
foyer. The Christmas meeting
will be on December 22, with
Shirley J3rintnell, Jean Cole and
Nancy Traquair in charge.
Games were conducted by
Garry Alderdice.

MARRIED 50 YEARS—Mr. and Mrs. John
Suplat, of Zurich, were honored on Sunday on the
occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. The
couple came to Canada from Yugoslavia in 1930,
and have lived in the Zurich area most of this time.
Mr. Suplat has been blind for many years. The
couple have two sons, Steve, of Goderich, and
George, at home, as well as five grandchildren and
two great grandchildren. Contgratulatory messages
were received from Hon. John Robarts, prime min-
ister of Ontario ; Hon. C. S. MacNaughton, Huron
MLA, and Robert E. McKinley, Huron MP.
Mini -Makers
The Zurich IV Mini -Makers
attended the Achievement Day
in the Zurich Community Cen-
tre on Saturday, • December 7.
All of the 16 members and their
leaders were present. During
the morning Miss Heard, the
home economist, and Mrs. R.
McKercher gave the girls tests
on slipstitching, judging mater-
ial quality and judging dresses.
In the afternoon when moth-
ers and friends were invited,
each club presented either an
exhibit, a skit, or a demonstra-
tion.
The Mini -Makers presented an
exhibit, "Good Lines for Differ-
ent Figures", with Sally Dietrich
as the commentator.
Each girl who completed the
p r o j e c t, "Cottons May Be
Smart" received a sterling sil-
ver 4-H Homemaking Club
spoon.
Certificates of Achievement
were awarded to Sally Dietrich,
Dianne Zehr, Helen Blackwell,
Wendy Hay and Debbie Hogg.
The next club project, held
during the winter of 1969, will
be "Meat in the Menu".
All of the Mini -Makers wish
to thank their leaders, Mrs. Don
Oke and Mrs. Jiin Hogg, who
gave so much of their time to
make this club successful.

Couple Celebrate
40th Anniversary
A smorgasbord dinner was
held at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Ken McKay, Kippen, on
Sunday, December 8, to honor
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Love on the
occasion of their 40th wedding
