Two bowling teams from Hen-
sall Legion Ladies' Auxiliary
participated in a bowling tourn-
ament at Exeter last Wednes-
• day. Mrs. Grant McClinehey's
team won a consolation prize.
Other prides were won by Mrs.
Ted Roberts and Mrs. Hilda
Swale.
Mrs. Luella Wiliert is a pa-
tient in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter, She was taken by West-
lake ambulance service, Zurich,
on Monday of this week.
The United Church Women,
Unit 4, will meet on Thursday,
November 7, at 2:30 p,m.
Eleven members of Amber
Rebekah Lodge, ,Hensall, attend-
ed the dessert euchre held at
Huronic Rebekah Lodge, Clin-
ton, Wednesday afternoon of
last week, followed with, a bake
sale.
Mrs. Gus Voth, of Birming-
ham, Mich., spent the week -end
with her mother, Mrs. Louise
Simpson. Mrs. 'Simpson accom-
panied her daughter back to
Birmingham where she will
spend the winter months.

The Ladies' Aid of Carmel
Presbyterian 'Church sponsored
a bazaar, bake sale and tea in
the church school rooms on Sat-
urday afternoon, November 2,
which was very successful and
proceeds very gratifying.
Mrs. J, C. Boyne and Mrs,
Harvey Hyde formed the recep-
tion committee, In charge of
bake table were Mrs. Ed Munn,
Mrs. Lorne Luker, Mrs. Ger-
trude Moir, Mrs. Percy Camp-

Captain John R. Beer, of Win-
nipeg, Man,, spent the week -end
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Beer, and visited other
relatives and friends.

Emmanuel Church
The 94th anniversary services
of Emmanuel United Church
were marked recently. The Rev.
Dr. Anne P. Graham, of Metro-
politan United Church, London,
was speaker at the morning and
evening services.
Her theme in the morning
centred around the task of the
church and in the evening a
re -appraisal of one's faith.
Special music for the day was
provided by the church choir,
assisted by Clare Zurbrigg, of
Kitchener, who rendered several
inspiring solos. Ladies of the
church had the chancel beauti-
fully decorated with floral

in Zion United Church, Credi-
ton, November, 13, 14, 15, each
evening at '7:30 p,m. You will

boring churches, including Hen -
sail, displaying in dramatic
fashion the outreach of the
church's many ministries at
home and abroad.
Institute Meeting
Mrs. 0. Stephens, of Wood-
stock, will be guest speaker at
Hensall Women's Institute pub-
lic relations meeting in the
Legion Hall, Wednesday, No-
vember 13, and for her message
will speak on "Teaching the Re-
tarded". Roll call, "Why I con-
tinue to be an Institute mem-
ber". Collection for the Chil-
dren's Aid Society.

Set for Sunday
Remembrance Day service
under the auspices of Hensall
branch of the Canadian Legion,
468, will be observed Sunday,
November 10, with a service
and placing of wreaths at the
Cenotaph at 10:45 a.m.
A parade, headed by Exeter
Legion Pipe Band, Legion, Aux-
'hhary, Guides and Brownies and
their leaders, will march to the
United Church where service
will be held at 11 a.m., and will
be addressed by the minister,
Rev. Harold F. Currie,
Any veterans wishing to at-
tend the parade will be wel-
come. A supper for all Legion
members will be held at the
Legion Hall, Hensall, at 7 p.m.,

Carrel Wor en's Missionary Society
Hear Reports of Various Committees
The Women's Missionary So-
ciety of Carmel Presbyterian
Church met in the Sunday
school rooms of the church on
Monday evening, November 4.
President Mrs. R. A. Orr opened
the meeting by reading two
verses of the hymn, "God of
Our Fathers Known of Old".
Devotional study was given
by Mrs. Glenn Bell and Mrs,
Harvey 'Hyde. Seventeen visits
were made by the members to
sick, shut-ins, and newcomers.
The president of Huron Pres-
byterial, Mrs. Jack Pollock, •of
Goderich, who is in London
England, with her ill mother,
sent a letter of resignation with
regret,
Mrs. Orr and Mrs. Gordon
Schwalm are on the nominating
committee for Huron Presby-
ensall Couple
The family of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Kyle, Sr., who are sixty-
five years married on Wednes-
day, November 6, held a sur-
prise immediate family dinner
for them at their home on Brock
Street on Sunday, November 3.
The couple were the recipients
of many gifts, flowers and con-
gratulatory messages.
They were married in the
Anglican Parish, Hensall. Mr.
Kyle is the son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. William Kyle, former-
ly of Tuckersmith, and Mrs.
Kyle the daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Merino Kipfer, of
Waterloo County.
They farmed on the Parr Line
in Hay Township, retiring to
Hensall 35 years ago,
Mr. and Mrs. Kyle have a
family of four sons, Russell, St.
Catharines; Roy, Ti m min s;
arried 65 Years
Bryan and Dave, Hensall; two
daughters, Mrs. Clare Tuckey,
London; Mrs. Arnold Merner,
Zurich; 16 grandchildren and
10 great grandchildren.

WMS meeting, and opened with
a poem. Interesting items of
business were discussed. The
group will have a quilting and
pot -luck dinner at the church
on Tuesday, November 12.
