Mr. and Mrs. Don Dodds, of
Seaforth, are enjoying a few
days vacation, Mr, and Mrs.
Sim Roobol, of Hensall, are stay-
ing at the Dodd's home with the
children during their absence.
Recent visitors at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Shirray
were Mrs. Ethel Tremain, of
Alton, Ontario, and Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Jahns, ,of Chicago.
Bake Sale
Ladies of St, Paul's Anglican
Church held a very successful
bazaar and bake sale in the
church school rooms on Satur-
day afternoon of October 19,
which was well patronized, with
proceeds very gratifying. Con-
venors for the project were Mrs.
.Annie Reid and Mrs. Barrie
Jackson,
Rummage Sale
Members of Hensall Kinette
Club sponsored a very success-
ful annual fall rummage sale
at the local Arena Friday eve-
ning, October 18, with proceeds
for service work. Cartons of
used clothing not sold were
given to the UCW for their bale
to be forwarded for overseas
relief.
Trap Shoot
Bill Stewart, of Goderich,
scored 91 out of a possible 100
points to win the Huron County
handicap trap shoot champion-
ship at Kippen, Sunday. John
Anderson, Hensall, and Bob
Wildfong, of Exeter, placed sec-
ond with 90 points. Ted Hor-
ton. of Goderich, was third with

United Church Women
The United Church Women
held their Thanksgiving meet-
ing in the church with 18 mem-
bers present. The president,
Mrs. Charles Reid, opened the
meeting with prayer. Group
three were in charge •of devo-
tions with Mrs. John Ostrom
leading.
Mrs. Gordon Johnston gave a
poem, "Do you know what goes
on around you". Mrs. Ralph
Stephenson led in prayer. The
collection was taken up by Mrs.
Fred McClymont and dedicated
by Mrs. Charles Reid. There
were 24 visits made to sick and
shut-ins during the past month.
Mrs. Sherlock Keyes gave an
interesting talk on the trip she
took this summer to the east
coast. Mrs. John Ostrom read
a poem, "Everyday is Thanks-
giving". The meeting w a s
closed by repeating the "Lord's
Prayer" and group two served
lunch.
Mr. and Mrs. Verner Terry -
berry, of Goderich, called on
friends here last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Robinson,
Lorrie, Cathy and Carol .Ann,
of Willowdale, spent the week-
end at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred McClymont.

champion, George Hamm, of
Blyth, was fourth with 87 points.
Sunday evening guests at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Kip-
fer, of Hensall, were his broth-

Mr. and Mrs. Keith Hillier,

Mickle, Ridgetown, were recent
visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Laird
Mickle.
Mrs. John Glenn, of Exeter,
formerly of Chiselhurst, was
admitted as a patient at South
Huron Hospital on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Christian,
of Napanee, called on Mr. and
Mrs, Lair Mickle Tuesday of
last week. Mr, Christian was a
former bank manager here.

Hold Discussion
The minister, "Under Attack"
was a lively and informative
feature of the Thanksgiving
meeting of the Hensall United
Church Hi -C. Discussion on
money topics pertainng to youth
and the church followed.
The panels members were
Catharine Christie, Sherry Trav-
ers and Carmen Currie. Focus
on Japan was presented through
the film strip, "In the Land of
Fugi San". A Thanksgiving
meditation and a sing -song con-
cluded the meeting which was
followed by a contest and lunch.
Convenors for the October 27
meeting will be Donna Forrest,
Nancy Forrest and Joyce Fer-
guson. "Hi -C" councillors are
Rev. and Mrs. Harold Currie.
Donna Forrest was the rep-
resentative to the Church Voca-
tions Event 1968, for Huron,
Perth and Oxford Presbyteries
in St. John's United Church,
Stratford, October 19.

Obituary
MRS. JOHN AIKENHEAD
Mrs. John Aikenhead, of
Brucefield, passed away in Clin-
ton Community Hospital, Thurs-
day evening, October 17. The
former Reta Harrison, she was
in her 65th year, and is sur-
vived by her husband, two sons,
James, Brucefield; Bill, Germ-
any; four daughters, Mrs, Stew-
art (Olive) Broadfoot, Bruce -
field; Mrs. Harold (Joyce) Wil-
lert, RR 2, ,Hensall; Mrs. R. S.
(Amy) Hunt, London; Mrs. Stan-
ley (Elizabeth)Collins, Clinton;
three sisters, Mrs. Olive Adams,
London; Mrs. Elizabeth Penny-
witt, Detroit; Mrs. Irene Jones,
Detroit, Michigan; two brothers,
Percy Harrison, of Goderich;
Charles Harrison, Detroit; 33
grandchildren and one great-
grandchild.
Public funeral service was
held from Bonthron funeral
home, Hensall, on Monday, at 1
p.m., conducted by Bev. E. D.
Stuart. Interment was in Baird's
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Col-
lins, James Aikenhead, Harold
Willert, Richard Hunt, Stewart
Broadfoot, Bill Aikenhead; flow-
erbearers, Harry Wooley, Martin
Bos, Richard. Willert, Richard
Hunt.

Discuss Farming
Mrs. Malcolm Davidson, of
Brucefield, was the guest speak-
er when Kippen East Women's
Institute met at the home of
Mrs. M. Connolly on Wednes-
day, October 16. She spoke on
"Farmers' wives duties in the
future", and was presented with
a little gift by Mrs. D. Triebner
to express thanks for a very fine
address.
Mrs. William Bell chaired the
agriculture and Canadian indus-
tries program and gave the
motto, "We are never too old to
learn if we are not too stubborn
to try".
Mrs. Dave Triebner gave an
excellent reading on the gen-
eral theme of farming for
women. Roll call was answered
by an advantage of farm life,
and seven paid fines for not
wearing their Institute pin,
Mrs. Alex McGregor and Mrs.
June Cooper reported on the
local leader course which they
attended, "Sewing with a differ-
ence". Anyone in the commun-
ity wishing to take this course
should get in touch with either
of these ladies. Mrs. Joyce
Cooper reported for citizenship
and education and also gave
courtesy remarks.
Donation was given to the
•CND3 ,and arrangements were
made for serving lunch at Hur-
on Centennial. Mrs. Vern Al-
derdice presented the treasurer's
report and Mrs. Ken McKay and
Mrs, Harry Caldwell reported
on the Huron County rally held
in 'Crankbrook, October 7.

Obituary
WILLIAM R. COOPER
William Robert Cooper, 67, of
Kippen, passed away in Victoria
Hospital, London, on Saturday,
October 19,
Surviving are his wife, the
former Rheo McCurdy; two
daughters, Mrs, Jim (Gwen)
Campbell, Sarnia; Mrs. Gordon
(Elaine) 11 a r k n e s s, Parkhill;
three sons, Don and Ray, Exeter;
Gerald, Toronto; two sisters,
Grace, Mrs. W. L. Lawson, Lis-
towel; Mrs. Margaret Johnson,
Toronto; 20 grandchildren and
four great grandchildren.
Public funeral service was
held from Bonthron funeral
home, Hensall, on Tuesday, Oc-
tober 22, conducted by Rev. E.
D. Stuart. Burial was in Baird's
Cemetery.

Mrs. Harry Caldwell was
guest speaker for the ,October
meeting of Chiselhurst United
Church Women, giving a very
interesting and informative talk
on her trip to Japan,
President Mrs. Thomas 'Brint-
nell chaired the meeting, open-
ing with a Thanksgiving medita-
tion. The worship, "God's pres-
ence in our midst", was taken
by Mrs. Clarence Coleman. Mrs.
Alvin Cole offered prayer. Mrs.
Robert Boyce brought a Thanks-
giving message.
Plans were made for the an-
nual bazaar to be held at the
church, Wednesday, November
6, at 3 o'clock.
