Tuesday Meeting
An important meeting of the
Zurich Curling Club is sched-
uled for next Tuesday night,
October 15, at the Zurich Arena.
The meeting will commence at
8:30 p.m.
Since a new roof is being in-
stalled on the arena, all the
curlers are looking forward to
an interesting season of activity.
Due to poor ice conditions
caused from a badly leaking
roof last season, the curlers had
trouble getting organized, but
they are anxious now to start
the season off on schedule.

i.IBBY'S-28 OZ,
coning through with a 4 games
to 1 series win.
Rick Shantz hurled Ginger-
ichs through rainy and chilly
weather Sunday, allowing the
Teenagers only three hits to
take the Rec League champion-
ship.
Gingerichs' 12 -to -2 win Sun-
day was delayed for an hour at
the start and then was finally
played in a steady drizzle. The
plate umpire, Ray McKinnon,
doing a swell job behind the
plate, not only in that game but
throughout the whole season,
called the game after five inn-
ings. Shane McKinnon handled
the field umpire and also did
a good job.
Tony Bedard's three run
homer in the second inning gave
the Gingerich crew a lead which
was never threatened. The
Teenagers just seemed to have
died after Tony's homer. In
the third, pitcher Randy Decker
for the Teenagers gave up three
walks and the fielding slipped
up with three errors to allow
Gingerichs five runs.
Clifford Gingerich's double
and John Gascho's single knock-
ed in four runs in the top of
the fourth to end the Gingerich
scoring.
It wasn't until the bottom of
the fourth when the Teenagers
managed to get any hits or runs.
Jerry Rader's double, Rick Turk-
heim's single, Ray Fihkbeiner's
single and Brian Decker's hard
hit to shortstop, which resulted
in an error, were the Teens
only hits of the game, and
scored Turkheim and Rader for
two runs. The Teens .hit nine
fly balls out to the Gingerich
strong fielding crew in the five
innings.
Thirteen hits by the Ginger-
ich crew gave them 12 runs.
Tony Bedard hit a three -run
homer and a double, Don Par-
sons hit three for three in the
Sunday tilt, along with Clifford
Gingerich's double and single
and the other hits were off the
bats of Lloyd Lostell, Rick
Shantz, Glen and John Gascho.

PLAN MEETING
All Rec League players and
anyone else interested in the
league are asked to come to a
meeting Monday night at the
Zurich Arena, 8 p.m. sharp. An
all-star team will be chosen to
play the 1968 champion Ginger-
ichs, to open the 1969 season
in May.
A trophy, donated by Herb
Turkheim on behalf of the Citi-
zens News, was given to Ginger-
ichs. It is hoped another busi-
ness in town will donate a tro-
phy to the pennant winners next
year, and an individual player's
trophy for the top player, to
make the league more interest-
ing. Uniforms is another item
which we will be discussing for
the upcoming season.
On behalf of the Zurich Rec
Softball League I would like to
thank the umpires who helped
throughout the season. To all
donators and people who sup-
ported us by buying draw tick-
ets and many thanks to all the
fans who attended the Ree
games.
