Mr. and Mrs. Fred Howe, who
have been visiting the latter's
sister, Mrs. R, M. Peck, and also
with relatives in Niagara Falls,
left Monday of this week for
their winter home in Tucson,
Arizonia.
Mrs. Wilbert Dining and Mrs,
Elizabeth Riley attended the
Huron County Women's Insti-
tute rally held at Cranbrook
Community Centre, Monday, of
this week.
James Murney Twitchell, in-
fant son of Mr. and Mrs. Murney
Twitchell, !London, and Bradley
James Falconer, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Mervyn Falconer, Bruce -
field, received the rites of Holy
Baptism at Brucefield United
Church Sunday morning last,

The Twitchell baby is the grand-
son of Mrs. Verna Twitchell, of
Hensall.
Miss Jennie Buchanan was
taken by ambulance to South
Huron Hospital, Exeter, last

Harvest Home
Rev. Robert Carson, of Lucan,
was guest minister at the Harv-
est Home service at St. Paul's
Anglican Church, Sunday morn-
ing, October 6, delivering a
challenging d i s c o u r s e. The
choir, under direction of Mrs.
Frank Forrest, rendered an an-
them. The church was appro-
priately decored with flowers,
fruit and vegetables.
Penny Sale Winners
Winners from Hensall at the
annual penny sale at Clinton
Saturday afternoon, October 5,
were Mrs, Gordon Troyer, RR 2,
Hensall, and Mrs. Elizabeth
Riley. The sale was conducted
by the Women's Auxiliary to
the Clinton Public Hospital with
proceeds from the sale to be
used to improve facilities at the
hospital through acquisition of
needed equipment. Mrs. Ted

Dashwood WI
The October meeting of Dash-
wood WI was held Tuesday, Oc-
tober 1, with the agriculture
and Canadian industries group
in chcarge and Mrs. Milford
Merner convenor. This was
their safety meeting and roll
call was a safety hint on high-
way or farm. Mrs. Merner also
commented on the motto,
"Buried seeds grow and buried
talents never".
Constable John Wright, of the
Exeter police detachment, was
guest speaker and gave the
ladies a most instructive talk
on safety and rules of the high-
way.
Mrs. Glen Webb, president,
presided for the business. Mrs.
Carl Oestreicher, Mrs. Glen
Webb and Mrs. Sid Baker were
appointed delegates to the fall
rally at Cranbrook, Monday, Oc-
tober 7. Anyone wishing to st-
at Centennial Hall, October 17,
in London, is to contact Mrs.
Webb. The next meeting will
be held October 29, due to the
London area convention at In-
gersoll, November 5 and 6.

derwent surgery in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London, last week.

several days last week at Strat-
ford with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer
Rader and family.

Attend Meetings
The Thanksgiving meeting of
the Women's Missionary Society
of Carmel Presbyterian 'Church
was held in the.. Sunday school
rooms of the church, Monday
evening, October 7, with presi-
dent Mrs. R. A. Orr in the chair.
She read a poem, "What he is
thankful for".
Devotion and study was given
by Mrs. Gordon Troyer and Mrs.
Clarence Volland. iSome have
planned on attending the Huron
Presbyterial in Auburn, with
members taking part in the de-
votional, also to attend Thanks-
giving meeting in Seaforth, on
October 17, at 2:30 p.m.
Glad Tidings subscription are
due, most all members having
subscribed from Mrs. Ed Munn,
the literature secretary.
A remembrance card, signed
by all members present, to be
sent to the Huron Presbyterial
secretary, Mrs. E. Dyke, of
Goderich, whose husband is a
patient in Byron Hospital for
several months.
The WMS also ordered their
1969 study packets. Next meet-
ing will be held November 4,
with Mrs. Glenn Bell and Mrs.
Harvey Hyde doing the devo-
tional and study. Roll call, by
naming your favorite hymn.
The Ladies' Aid held their
meeting and discussed plans for
their bazaar, bake sale and tea,
November 2. Other interesting
items of business were dis-
cussed.

stallation of new officers which
will take place Wednesday, Oc-
tober 16, with the installing
staff of Morning Staff Rebekah
Lodge, Brussels. Mrs, Mary
Love, district deputy president
of district 23, will be present.
Members reported having can-
vassed for the CNIB.

Plans Projects
Unit 4, UCW met in Fellow-
ship Hall of the United Church.
on Thursday, October 3, with
leader Mrs, James McAllister
presiding.
The devotional was given by
Mrs. Elizabeth Riley, reading
sacred passages from Psalm 100,
and articles by Clare Burt on
"Farming in Japan", "Let's
think it over"; "Thanksgiving
to farmers for food supplies
even from all over the land."
Mrs. Luther led in prayer.
Mrs. Grace Harpole favored
with a piano selection. Roll
call was responded by 28 mem-
bers. Visitation was recorded.
This unit will be in charge of
flowers for the church and the
nursery for the month of No-
vember.
General :meeting will be Mon-
day, October 21, with unit 4 in
charge. The regional rally will
meet in the United Church on
Wednesday, October 23, at 9:15
