not visible flying around in a
house causing much worry at
tinges for those within.
I had heard of haunted houses
before so that was not new to
me, but I say I had never lived
in ' one before. I had never
witnessed the noise in one. In
the shanty there were saws,
chains and other tools used in
a lumber camp. At the head of
my bunk there was a small
table with a kerosene lamp, and
as long as there was a lamp or
any other light burning there
was nothing doing in the shan-
ty. So the first might I kept
the light on until ten o'clock,
then I rolled in for the night.
Shortly after gangsters arrived
and what all they did, tramping
around in the shanty, playing
with the stove making such
noises as that of poking wood
in. the stove, or playing with
water in a wash basin.
On my table there were news-
papers and magazines for me to
read for a pastime. Lumber
camp door latches are large and
made of wood and when a door
was opened it meant quite a
noise, and of course the role
played every night was almost
the same. That lasted until 12
o'clock mignight.
My first night in that shanty

was well on towards the end
of the month of January, and
with a depression throughout
the ,country it was still too
early to take to the road. I
then made up my decision to
stay and put up with 'whatever
would happen. Naturally one
gets used to anything and that
was not an exception. During
my stay in the shanty at no
time did I receive any harm
from those little ghosts, spirits
or whatever you think. But
please accept the haunted shan-
ty story as being true.
