A TV adaptation of English
grlaywright John Osborne's
"Luther" was presented last
Sunday on the CTV network.
The work traced the life of
Martin Luther, the 16th century
religious rebel who started he
Reformation in Germany. The
drama followed Luther through
his war on corruption in the
church and his break with Pope
Leo X. It showed the intense
spirival torture of a man driven
to help men find God — but
never entirely certain that he is
right in the sight of the Lord.
Although the part of the Pope
was quite small, it was admir-
ably handled by Robert Morley.
The highlight carne when
Morley, lying on a bench, •calm-
ly ex -communicated L u t he r;
played by Robert Shaw.

anniversary celebration was seen
last Sunday. Due to time con-
fliction between Luther and Sul-
livan and because my second

Hensall Area Man
Passes At 101
David Murray, 101, of RR 1,
Hensall, died Friday in South
Huron Hospital, Exeter, follow-
ing a brief illness. He would
have been 102 Decernber 18.
Born on a farm in Hay Town-
ship, Mr. Murray spent 60 years
as a farm worker in Saskat-
chewan. He returned five years
ago to the Hensall area, where
he lived with a niece, Miss
Hannah Murrary.
For some months last winter,
Mr. Murrary was a resident at
Blue Water Rest Home.
He is survived by a 96 -year-
old sister, Mrs. W. E. McCor-
quodale, of Royal Oak( Mich.,
and nephews and nieces. Serv-
ice was held at 1:30 p.m. Mon-
day in iBonthron funeral home,
Hensall, with burial in Exeter
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tom, Sam,
Malcolm, Harry, Andrew and
William Dougall

Mrs. Gus Voth, who has been
spending the past week visiting
with her mother, Mrs. L. Simp-
son, has returned to her home
in Birmingham, Mich.
Harry Caldwell, Wellwood, Man.,
and daughter Jane, of Portage
Is Prairie, have returned home
after spending a week visiting
with the former's siser, Mrs.
Alice Joynt, and other relatives
in the district.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Erb,
bridal couple, were honored at
a reception and dance at Zurich
Community Centre Saturday
evening, and presented a purse
of money, with Earl Wagner
acting as MC. Music was pro-
vided by the Bluewater Play-
boys. There was a large at.
tendance.
William Kyle, Kippen, has
purchased the property of Wil-
liam Forrest on the London
Road, and will take up residence
this summer.
Mrs, Jim Bozzata and Dana,
Port Colborne, returned home
Friday after spending three
weeks with the former's parents,
Mr, and Mrs. William Kyle.
Mrs. William Kyle is recover-
ing nicely from a fractured
right arm sustained in a fall at
her home. She was hospital-
ized for a week,
Hensall Shooter Wins Silverware
At the provincial trap shoot-
ing championship held in Ham-
ilton over the week -end, John
Anderson, of Hensall, won the
16 yard class event with a score
of 195 out of 200.
