Zurich Boy Hurt
in Accident With
Bicycle and Truck

Medical attention was given
the boy at the scene by Dr. C,
J. Wallace, and then rushed to
the hospital in Westlake ambu-
lance. OPP Constable E. C.
Wilcox investigated the mishap.
On Wednesday, May 22, at
6:15 p.m., a car operated by
Maurice Leblanc, CFB Clinton,
lost control cin the Hay -Stanley
Township Line at Hillsgreen,
and struck a farm tractor owned
by Keith Love, RR 1, Zurich,
which was parked in front of a
store. The tractor was then
pushed into parked car owned
by Joseph Paiso, of RR 2, Hen -
sail.
Maurice Leblanc suffered a
broken right leg and cuts and
bruises. Passengers in the Le-
blanc car, Allen Williams, CFB
Clinton, suffered head injuries,
broken clavical and pelvis.
Michele Berube, CFB Clinton,
Clinton, suffered a contusion to
the right lung and broken ribs.
The three occupants were taken
to Westminster Hospital, Lon-
don, by Westlake ambulance.
Damage was estimated at
$2,500. Provincial Constable D.
A. Mason investigated.

Barber Boys Lose First Game to Teen
Agers in Zurich Rec Softball League

Last Wednesday night the
softball league got underway
with the Teenagers and the
Bluewater teams taking full
command of the games.
At the Separate School dia-
mond, the young legs and arms
had it all aver the older players,
as the Teenagers walloped the
Barber Boys, 35 to 11.
Bob Merner, team captain of
the Barber Boys, said after the
game, "the boys just weren't
in shape". Gord Hay, who pitch-
ed, stated Bob threw a swell
game until the third when he

Attend Workshop
Three Zurich ,girls were
among 16 South Huron District
High School students who at-
tended an educational confer-
ence at Chesley recently deal-
ing with the problems of the
mentally retarded,
Anne Ranier, Thelma Ramer
and Dorothy Farwell and their
fellow students were guests of
the South Huron and District
Association for the Mentally Re-
tarded, Attending from Hen-
sall were Linda Sangster and
Anne Keys. From Dashwood
were Anne McCann, Cora Van
Raay and Pauline Greb.
About 250 teenagers attended
the conference and heard Ralph
Button, president of the youth
group of the Hamilton Associa-
tion for the Mentally Retarded,
speak on the various ways young
people can help mentally re-
tarded teenagers lead a more
useful and happy life.
In the afternoon, Dr. S. J.
Koegler, noted psychiatrist and
psychologist from Toronto ask
the question, "How come you're
so smart?"
He said that retardation is
basically the result of damaged
chromosomes, caused in most
cases by radiation, infectious
diseases and the influence of
drugs, especially the drug 'LSD..

children born are retarded, he
reported.

all the way as Gingerieh's were
downed 12 too. The Bluewater
collected six runs in the first
two innings and then collected
six more in the seventh inning.
