Robbing birds' nest is now a
national crime.
Quite a quantity of flour and
sugar has been returned to
dealers in Exeter by people who
had a greater stock on hand
than the law allowed.

Miss Marie McKaig, who has
occupied the position for a
number of years, has resigned
as she intends taking a trip to
the coast.
Demand for education doubles
the enrolment at the University
of Western Ontario.
Beginning May 10, every
Thursday afternoon and evening
a lady will be here to marcellle.

ley Township, are arranging a
program for CKNX.
Mrs. Ross Guenther and baby,
Greenway, are spending a few
days with Mr, and Mrs. R. E.
Guenther in Dashwood,
TOMMY ON TOUR — Tommy Hunter tours
Ontario, the prairies and Western Canada this sum-
mer with members of his troupe, before returning
to Toronto for the third season of The Tommy
Hunter Show, to be seen on CBG television each
Sunday, starting September 2, in color. Among
the 22 stops on the tour are Kapuskasing, Kenora,
Portage La Prairie, Prince Albert, Grande Prairie,
Dawson Creek, Vernon, Penticton, Kelowna, Leth-
bridge, Moose Jaw, Swift Current and Weyburn.

Some months ago a firm from
Toronto made a test of the big
rock well in town, just west of
the town hall, and when it was
discovered of the capacity of
water from the well, the Zurich
Police Trustees decided to pur-
chase a centrifugal pump from
this company,
Farmers' crops are greatly
picking up since the recent
showers and continued sun-
shine will make a big difference
in a short time.
Notice: The Township of Hay
has purchased a four -acre plot
for the disposal of all rubbish.
It is located on the southeast
corner of lot 15, concession 7,
Hay, or one and one-quarter
miles south of the Zurich Road
on the Parr Line.
Mr, and Mrs. Gordon Howald
have moved their effects to a
property they purchased on the
outskirts of London and upon
which they are erecting a new
hone.

MAY, 1958
Fire of undetermined origin
completely destroyed the barn
and chicken house and pig pen
on the farm of Kenneth Etue,
RR 2, Zurich. Lost in the blaze
were about 70 pigs, almost 85
bags of fertilizer and a quantity
of grain.

received an honor BA in math-
ematics and science.
MR. AND MRS. G. W. J. VOLLAND were
married earlier this month in Carmel Presbyterian
Church, Hensall. The bride is the former Ladine
Louise Latoru. The groom is the son of Mr. and
Clarence Latour. The groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Volland, Hensall. They will reside in
Hen sall .
Amber Rebekah Lodge Entertains
Guests From Exeter Organization
At the regular meeting of the
Amber Rebekah Lodge, mem-
bers of Pride of Huron Lodge,
Exeter, were guests for the eve-
ning. The chair was taken by
noble grand Mrs. John Corbett,
assisted by vice -grand Mrs. Earl
Campbell.
The report on the visit to
Queensway Nursing Home was
given by Mrs. Elizabeth Riley.
An invitation was accepted from
Goderich Lodge to the initiation
ceremony, June 4.
Following nominations were

Suprise Party
For Birthday
An enjoyable evening was
spent on May 19 at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hart-
man, for a surprise birthday
party in honor of their mother,
Mrs. Theresa Hartman.
All of her 10 children, their
husbands and wives, along with
some of her 51 grandchildren,
attended.
The evening was spent play-
ing cards and music. Later on
she was presented with a purse
from the children and a spiri-
tual bouquet from her grand-
children.
Mrs. Hartman thanked them
for their many wishes and
thoughtfulness.
Mrs. Leona Parke; financial sec-
retary, Mrs. Bertha MacGregor;
treasurer, Mrs. Ed Corbett; trus-
tee, Mrs. George Clifton.
Mrs. Edna Caldwell and Mrs.
Harry Beaver, both past DDPs,
spoke. Mrs. R. A. Orr conducted
contests and Exeter entertained
with musical selections. A
smorgasbord luncheon was
served.
Thanks was expressed on be-
half of the visiting lodge by
Mrs. William Ford.
