Geiger preached a powerful sermon in the Evan- gelical Church on Sunday eve- ning. Robbing birds' nest is now a national crime. Quite a quantity of flour and sugar has been returned to dealers in Exeter by people who had a greater stock on hand than the law allowed. 40 Years Ago May, 1928 Harry Rose has moved his household effects here from Windsor and will reside in Zurich. Albert Hendrick, of the Blue - OF - YEARS GONE - BY Water Highway, has sold one of his farms to his son, Samuel Hendrick, who has been living on the farm for some months. Workmen have commenced on widening the road by the river at Grand Bend. Louis Drummond, Hensall, has accepted a position with the Bell Telephone as operator. Miss Marie McKaig, who has occupied the position for a number of years, has resigned as she intends taking a trip to the coast. Demand for education doubles the enrolment at the University of Western Ontario. Beginning May 10, every Thursday afternoon and evening a lady will be here to marcellle. Norval Precious, barber. Lost in the blaze were about 70 pigs, almost 85 bags of fertilizer and a quantity of grain. Says Citizens News sports writer Don O'Brien: Women are like baseball umpires. Amber Rebekah Lodge Entertains Guests From Exeter Organization At the regular meeting of the Amber Rebekah Lodge, mem- bers of Pride of Huron Lodge, Exeter, were guests for the eve- ning. The chair was taken by noble grand Mrs. John Corbett, assisted by vice -grand Mrs. Earl Campbell. The report on the visit to Queensway Nursing Home was given by Mrs. Elizabeth Riley. All of her 10 children, their husbands and wives, along with some of her 51 grandchildren, attended. The evening was spent play- ing cards and music. Later on she was presented with a purse from the children and a spiri- tual bouquet from her grand- children. Mrs. Hartman thanked them for their many wishes and thoughtfulness.
