Honoured On
40th Anniversary
(Idar. and Mrs Dirk Van Wieren,
67 London Road, Hensall, cele-
brated their 40th wedding anni-
versary and a family dinner and
"open house" at their home.
Mr, and Mrs. hats Van Wieren,
57 London Road, son and daugh-
ter-in-law, celebrated their 15th
wedding anniversary the same
day.
The senior couple 'came to
Canada from Holland 19 years
ago this month and have lived
in Hensall area for 17 of those
years.
They have two daughters and
three sons, all living in Canada.
They were the recipients of
many lovely gifts and congratu-
latory cards.

Study Japan.
Unit 1, UCW, met in the Unit-
ed Church Thursday afternoon
with 20 present. Mrs. Lorne
Hay preided.
Mrs. Dave Kyle was in charge
of the devotional and used as
her theme, "Serving 'God at
Home". Mrs. Edison Forrest
gave two chapters, "Christian
Warrior" •and "Country Town
Minister", from the study -book,
"Japan Profiles".
(Mrs. Harold Elder showed
pictures of her recent trip to
Mexico by plane. Lunch was
served by Mrs. Goddard and
her assistants.

dectomy last Wednesday night.

and Mrs. E. Willert,
Miss Ann MVIiokle left last
week to study and work in the
dietetic department of Victoria
Hospital, London.
Members of Hensall Legion
Auxiliary bowling team partici-
pated in the •bowling at Strath
roy on Wednesday, May 22,
Members attending were Mrs.
Grant McClinchey, Mrs. William
Smale, Mrs. Clarence Reid, Mrs,
Harold Campbell, Mrs. Hilda
Smale, Mrs. Mary Taylor. Sev-
eral prizes were won through-
out the evening.
At their dinner meeting last
Thursday night Kinsmen of-
ficers for 1968-69 were appoint-
ed. Past president is Bob Cald-
well; president, Wayne Reid;
first vice-president, Ron Ware-
ing; second vice-president, Al-
vin Campbell; secretary, John
Henderson; treasurer, Jim Hyde;
registrar, Gary Maxwell; direc-
tors, Murray Baker, John Baker
and Robert Reaburn.

Hensall Students
Walk for OXFAM
Thirty pupils from grades 7
and 8 of Hensall Public School
will march from St. Joseph to
Hensall, a distance of 11 miles
one way. They will leave St.
Joseph on Saturday, June 1, at
10 a.m.
The march is sponsored by
Hensall businessmen, relatives
and friends who will pay 10c
to a dollar or more a mile. Pro-
ceeds are for Oxfam.

Fly -up To Guides
The First Hensall Brownie
Pack held their, spring fly -up
ceremony last Tuesday evening.
The hall was very prettily dec-
orated by the Hensall Guides,
and Guide Patty Van Wieren
extended a welcome to all the
guests present.
Brown Owl Mrs, Robert Cook
presented Wendy Dixon and
Daneen Ward with their wings
and both girls "felw up" to the
Guide company.
Several proficiency badges
were presented to the follow-
ing Brownies iby Snowy Owl
Mrs. Barrie Jackson: Barbara
Cooper and Betty Beer received
their collectors badge; Brenda
Clement, toymakers badge; Lin-
da Elder, book lovers badge;
Daneen Ward, house orderly
badge, and Christine McGregor,
athletes badge. Golden Hand
badges were also presented to
Wendy Dixon and Daneen Ward.
Following the fly -up cere-
mony, a play was put on by
several Brownies and games.
were enjoyed. A campfire was
enjoyed by both Brownies and
Guides and a very interesting
skit was put on by several of
the Guides.
Lunch was served by Guides
who were acting as hostesses
for the evening in order to pass
their hostess badge.
