COME, LET US ADORE HIM --
•Young people at. the Evangelical Unit-
ed Brethren Church in Zurich broad-
cast the good news that a Saviour
was born when they presented their
Christmas pageant at the church last
Sunday evening. Seen here in a
touching manger scene are (left to

ner, Larry Kipper, Marilyn Gascho as
Mary, Carl Finkbeiner as Joseph, Jim
Grainger and Stephen Hesse. Cos-
tumes were colorful and the entire
presentation was a credit to the con-

Fire Proofing For Christmas
To help make sure families
don't include the worst intrud-
er of all—FIRE—in their Christ-
mas festivities, the Ontario
Safety League offers some
timely reminders.
A Christmas tree makes the
best kindling you could have in
your home, so to prevent it
from igniting, you must com-
pensate
pensate by choosing a freshly
cut tree. and standing it in
water at all times. Place the
tree in the coldest place possi-
ble, well away from the radii
ator, TV set, radio, stove and
fireplace.
Most people put their trees
up too early and dismantle
them too late. Actually, no
tree will last more than a week
indoors, with nut drying out
and dropping needles, at which
point it is an extreme fire
hazard.
Keep colored lights turned
on for short periods of time,
and always turn them off be
fore going to bed or going out.
Check your lights before using
them to make sure there is no
damage to 'cords or sockets,
and when buying new ones,
make sure they bear the CSA
(Canadian Standards . Associa-
tion) stamp of approval.
Non -inflammable decorations
of metal, glass or asbestos are
far safer than paper or cotton
decorations, and of course, can-
dles are a hazard anywhere near
the tree or near other combus-
tible decorations,

STILL TIME
If you have forgotten some
names which should have been
on your Christmas list, there is
still time to remember most of
them if you have ;a well -stocked
pantry, a corner store or a
pocketbook .handy.
For the paperboy, a gift of
money tucked ,in an envelope;
for the milkman, a package of
assorted candies to take home
to his family; for your neigh-
bor, a glass of jam and a jar
of pickles from your pantry.
Wrapped and decorated, these
make thoughtful gifts which are
most acceptable.
