Hears Report Of
Orphan Children
The Christmas program of
Zurich Women's Institute was
held at the Township Hall with
17 members and 13 visitors
present. •Mrs. Harold Thiel wel-
comed the 4-H girls and their
leaders.
Guest speaker Lance Reed
spoke about Christmas dreams
for a little boy. He told of how
we can be happy by taking e
little gift to someone who has
"no one". He reminded us
especially of children in or-
phanage who have no homes
and no family life.
Various Christmas carols were
sung. The 4-H girls, "The Pil-
low Talkers", presented their
skit and displayed their "bed-
room accessories," which they
were taught to make by their
leaders, Miss Dianne Peck and
Mrs. Donna O'Brien.
Roll call was answered with
a favorite Christmas carol. Re-
ports were that a stove was
purchased for the hall and luneh
was served for the bean board
meeting.
"Baking with Yeast" short
course is planned for January
11, 1968. A number of door
prizes and gift were presented,
and there was gift exchange
among Institute members.

Re -Creating the
Nativity in
Art and Song
Through the years, the mean-
ing of the manger has been en-
riched by hundreds of thou-
sands of reverent re -creations.
Both craftsmen and artists
have been inspired by the
manger, and have shared their
inspiration with many. The
Madonna and Child appear
again and again in countless
fatuous paintings, and the
Christmas creche in miniature,
created by the loving hands of
skilled craftsmen. is a precious
tradition in many lands, in
many homes,
In song, too, "the young Child
with Mary His Mother” lives
anew. Gathering around the
manger scene, glad voice joy-
fully carol, "Silent Night, Holy
Night! All is calm, all is bright,
'round yon Virgin Mother and
Child,.,"
and happiness to you.

About Trees
On the night Christ was horn,
legend says, all the trees burst
into bloom. Thus began many
stories about the Christmas
tree,
Early folk tales
huge tree in the
forest, The tree
described a
midst of a
held many
candles, some straight, some
upside down. At the top was
an infant with a halo around
his head,
It was believed that the tree
represented humanity. The
candles, up and down, symbol-
ized people, good and bad. The
infant was the Christ Child,
