In beautiful color and lighted during the night, it reminds all who pass by that Christ is the reason for Christmas. A contrast to the gay lights and tinsel, the wooden figures announce glad tid- ings and goodwill to all men. Seaforth Juveniles Edge Zurich In Rough and Tumble Game Played 'Here The Zurich Juveniles were scored on a pass from his broth - defeated Wednesday night by Seaforth, 4-3. The game was a combination of speed and rough play, with tempers flar- ing occasionally but on account of the fine refereeing the game did not get out of hand. The referees were Doug O'Brien and George Haggitt. In the first period Zurich took a two -to -one lead on goals by Aubrey Bedard and Ken. Clarke, who flashed hot shots by the Seaforth goalie. Sea- forth's goal was scored by Frasier on a pass from Nichol- son. The teams both scored a goal in the second period. The Sea - forth goal was scored by Ken- nedy while Paul Corriveau PEE-WEES TIE HENSALL Wednesday night the Zurich Pee-Wees tied Hensall 3-3. Hen- sall took the lead in the first period on a goal by Jeff Rea - burn. In the second period Bill Con- sitt scored for Hensall, while Gerald Weido flashed two by the Hensall goalie for Zurich. The third period was fairly slow with Peter Jantzie scoring for Hensall, while Gerald Weido scored his third of the night, giving himself a hat trick. Kennedy's goal was assisted by McLean and Frasier. 0 - MIDGETS BEAT MONKTON Tuesday night in the Zurich Arena the Monkton Midgets were deafted 10-2. In the first period Zurich led by a score of two to one, on goals by Grainger and Fred Armstrong. Monkton's goal was scored by Dan Back. Monkton was left scoreless in the second period while Larry Hess, Shane McKinnon and Rich- ard Schilbe counted goals for Zurich. The third period was 'a bit The third period was a bit bet- ter for Monkton as they scored a goal from the stick of Back, again. The third •period goals for Zurich were scored by Garry Hess, Paul Flaxbard, Doug Cox - on, Richard Schilbe and Fred Armstrong. John McKinley and Ron Desjardine both received a pair of assists in the game. There were nine penalties handed out in the game with five going to Zurich and four going to Monkton. Another Dog Gets Poison at 'wood Another •dog in Dashwood has fallen victim to that commun- ity's poison fiend. The latest victim was a small pet awned by Bernie Nauss and it was the second dog within three weeks and about the seventh in the last year which has been found poisoned. Mr. Nauss reported he let his pet out for its usual evening romp and he found it lying dead on the porch about 10 minutes later. During the past two weeks, a cat has also been poisoned. Neeb, who told a story of a little Canadian girl, lost in the Niagara area at the beginning of the 19th century, and told of her rescue by a saddlebag preacher, Class representatives present- ed their gifts as the school sec- retary, Miss Ethel Gabel, read the class name. In the evening, the Sunday church school program was pre- sented to a capacity audience. Each class presented an exercise or playlet, while the senior Sun- day school, assisted by the choir, enacted the pageant ,`the World Needs a Saviour". Mrs. Claire Geiger headed the program committee and di- rected the pageant. Mrs. Wil- liam Siebert looked after the costuming and Don Oesch took care of the lighting. On Sunday, December 31, Emmanuel EUB will hold a Watchnight service at 11:15 p.m., ushering out the old year —Centennial year, and merging its denomination with the Unit- ed Church of Canada in 1968.
