DECEMBER, 1927
Official notice of the Ontario
government taking over the
county road between Elginfield
and Clinton, a distance of some
35 miles, was contained in 'an
order -in -council published re-
cently designating it as a pro-
vincial highway. It is heavily
travelled and it is the belief of
the local officials the depart-
ment will lay pavement early
next spring.
Indications this year point to-
wards having a real old-time
Christmas with the ground cov-
ered with the beautiful pure
white, white snow. 'While it is
welcome with many, it is not
so much appreciated by the au-
toists who would like to use
their cars.
Mr. and Mrs, Elmore Deters,
who have been farming in the
eastern part of Hay Township,
last week moved their effects
up on the farm of Louis Schu-
macher of the 14th concession
south which farm Mr. Datars
has rented from Mr. Schumach-
er, his father-in-law.

A number of wrestling fans
were at the London Arena to
see the big match at that place

School concerts are being
held at this time of year and
many are happy to be able to
take in these celebrations.
Jack Corbett, an employee •of
the CNR, met with a painful
accident when a tie slipped and.
fell on his foot, fracturing two
bones.
A very pleasant event took
place at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Herbert Mousseau last Fri-
day evening when some 60
friends and neighbors gathered
in honor of their eldest daugh-
ter, Norma, and her husband,

Four new elders, Harold Bell,
Percy Campbell, Archie Hog-
garth and Rochus Faber, re-
cently elected to the eldership
by the congregation of Carmel
Presbyterian Church in Hensall,
were ordained to that office at
the Sunday morning service,
December 14, Rev. John Fox
conducted the service.
Miss Amelia Clausius, of Tavi-
stock, is spending same time
with her brother, Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Clausius.

ducers are opening an assembly
yard at Clinton. •
William J. Hess, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Albert G. Hess, Zur-
ich, has been successful in pass-
ing his final examinations at
the Canadian School of Em-
balming, University of Toronto.
He is now with the F. J. Rowell
Funeral Home in Woodstock.
Miss Erma Wein, Clinton,
spent the week -end with her
mother, Mrs. Herb Wein, Dash-
wood.

of Seaforth and district, held
their annual Christmas turkey
bingo in the Legion Hall, Sea -
forth, on Thursday night with
a good crowd in attendance.

Charlotte Wood, Seaforth; Clay-
