Safety Inspector
Reports Activity
To County Council
(By R. 5. Atkey)
The clerks of the various
municipalities of the county
should get in touch with the
construction safety inspector
whenever new construction is
contemplated or under way in
their municipality, Huron Coun-
ty councillors agreed at the No-
vember session in Goderich on
Monday after Everett Smith,
Egmondville, county safety in-
spector, had presented his re-
port to September.
He stated that the number of
project reports from the vari-
out municipalities was as fol.
lows: Goderich two reports, 15
projects; Blyth, two reports,
three projects; Zurich, four re-
ports, 12 projects; Hensall, one
report, four projects; Stephen,
seven reports, 16 projects; Ex-
eter, seven reports, 33 projects;
Wingham, two reports, two pro-
jects; Beaver Lumber, three re-
ports, three projects; Hay Town-
ship, 118 reports, 21 projects.
Mr. Smith reported that 326
inspections had been made to
date, resulting in 194 with con-
traventions, 129 without con-
traventions, and three with
stop -work orders left at the
project.
Three fatal accidents took
place in the County of Huron
on construction work: two by
drowning (at Bayfield), and one
with road (near Dungannon).
Miles driven with car totalled
10,273. Fifteen rojects are still
under construction in the coun-
ty, Mr. Smith reported.
