MAUDE UEDDEN, Editor Mrs. Tom Kyle, Jr., left Mon- day by plane for Saskatoon to attend the funeral her sister, Mrs. Charles Street (30), who was killed in an •accident Fri- day night. Mrs. Street, the former Eva Powers, leaves a husband and three children. Funeral service was held Tues- day, November 21. The interior of the Legion Mall is getting a new look and is being redecorated both up and down stairs. Artists are Byran Kyle and Ed Little. Mrs. Albert Alexander is a patient in South Huron Hos- pital, with a dislocated right shoulder and a fractured left wrist sustained in an accident in a fall last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs, Peter Brand (newlyweds) are getting settled in the home they purchased from Hilliard Lawrence on Richmond Street S. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Cook, Kathie, and Jill Drysdale were in Toronto Saturday attending the Royal Winter Fair. Leaves For Belleville V. M. Pyette, manager of the Bank of Montreal for the past five years, left Monday of this week for his new .appointment as manager of the Bank of Montreal at Belleville. Mrs. Pyette and family hope to move within the very near future. The staff of the bank held a presentation for Mr. Pyette at the bank Friday evening, and presented him with a beautiful desk set. Bake Sale The ladies of St. Paul's Angli- can Church were very pleased with the success of their bake sale held Saturday. Despite the inclemency of the weather a good crowd turned out to pa- tronize it and proceeds were very gratifying. Convenors were Mrs, H. A. Seegmiller and Mrs. Frank Forrest. LEGION HONORS At a special meeting last Wednesday night the Hensall Branch 468 of the Royal Cana- dian Legion presented three of it members with life member- ship certificates and pins The First World War veter- ans are Harry Horton, P. L. McNaughton and Orville Tay- lor. Presentation was made by president E. R. Davis, who thanked them for their long and loyal service to the Legion and Branch. Executive Meets The executive board meeting for the district of South Huron Women's Institutes was held Tuesday, November 14, at 2 o'clock in the Hensall Town Hall, with members from all nine branches in attendance. Mrs. H. H. Strang discussed the duties of the district of- ficers as well as some points of business procedure. Area delegate Mrs. Delbert Geiger gave the report of the area con- vention held recently in the Carousel Motel, London. The mileage rate for the dis- trict was set at eight cents both ways, and would be effective where applicable. The 23rd of May, 1968, was set as the date for the district annual. As this will be the 65th year since the district was organized, a committee of Mrs. R. Kading, Grand Bend; Mrs. S. Baker, Dashwood, and Mrs. D. Geiger, Zurich. was appointed to do any special planning needed to mark the occasion. Miss Helen McKercher, director of home economic services, On- tario Department of Agriculture and Food, will be a guest speaker. It was. noted that achievement days for the district will be: Zurich, November 26; Exeter, December 9. Kippen East Women's Institute Hold Meeting; Former Members Guests Kipper East WI entertained their former members on Wed- nesday, November 15, in Huron Centennial School. The presi- dent, Mrs. Grant MacLean, chaired the meeting, and wel- comed the guests and Com- menced the meeting with the Ode and the Mary Stewart Col- lect. The secretary, Mrs. James Drummond, read the minutes and the roll call was answered by everyone present telling the year they joined Kippen East and some of the highlights they remembered. Mrs. William Bell and Mrs. James Drummond reported on the area convention held in London, November 7 and 8. Mrs. Grant MacLean and Mrs Ross Broadfoot conducted an "In Memoriam" service for de- parted members. Mrs. William Caldwell ar- ranged a beautiful display of quilts and gave an interesting talk on the making of quilts. Mrs. Alex McGregor and Mrs. Douglas McGregor .attended to registration and presented each person with a rose corsage. Mrs. William Kyle and Mrs. Dave Triebner favored with three songs. Frances Kinsman gave a reading, "When father papered the parlor", and Mrs. James Chalmers gave the story of mother's problems with the School bus. A play, "Wanted a House- keeper", was presented with Mrs. William Caldwell and Mrs. James Drummond in the lead- ing roles, with Mrs. Ross Sa- raras, Mrs. Ken McKay, Mrs. Vern Alderdice, Mrs, Robert Bell, Mrs, Grant MacLean and Mrs. Joyce Cooper in the sup- porting roles. The cast of the play presented a square dance with Mrs. Ross Broadfoot doing the honors. Mrs. Morley Cooper, who had a birthday that day, was wished "A Happy Birthday to You". In honor of from 25 to 35 years of continuous service in Kippen East WI, Mrs. Ernest White- house, Mrs. Stewart Pepper, Mrs. Campbell Eyre, Mrs. John Sinclair, Mrs. Alex McGregor and Mrs. William Kyle were presented with Centennial rose cups and saucers. A penny sale was conducted by Mrs. Robert Kinsman and Mrs. Ken McKay.
