ST. JOSEPH and DRYSDALE
Alfred Ducharme,Correspondent
Visitors at yours truly and
Airs. Ducharme over the week-
end were from Windsor, Cyril
Ducharme and son Denis, and
from Stoney Point and Chat-
ham, their two slaughters, who
are nuns in the Ursuline Order,
also Sister Eugenie, of Chat-
ham. From Goderich were Mr.
and Mrs. Anthony Masse and
Mrs. Gilbert Plante. Mrs. Plante
is a native of this parish and
even though the distance is not
far it has been some years since
the Ducharnes had met her.
Needless to say the meeting of
old friends is always a pleas-
ure. Mrs. Plante was on her
way to Zurich to visit Mrs.
David Ducharme, a sister,
Mr. Frederick Papineau, of
Detroit, spent a few days in his
farm 'home on the Blue Water
Highway. He was accompanied
by his brother, Frank, of Wind-
sor, and Mr. Jerome Masse, also
of Windsor.
Mr, and Mrs. Avila Ducharme
of the Blue Water south, in
company with their son Ray-
mond and his wife, of Sarnia,
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 1907
motored to Detroit on Sunday
last to visit with Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Aldrus of that city.
On Saturday last Daylight
Saving Time passed away for
another year and not too many
shed tears over its passing.
Some enjoyed it while the vast
majority of the people, to them
its passing will not be regret-
ted. Regardless of the people's
feelings, they abided the de-
cision of the authority, they
prefer to submit and keep
silent rather than cause ill feel-
ings in the community. Some
have daylight saving time so
much at heart that they start
mumbling about it in early win-
ter so that the people at large
will be warned about their
pleas, Such power tries to keep
away as much as possible from
the rural people, the laboring
class and as well the mothers
who have to prepare their chil-
dren to get on the bus which
picks them up at so early an
hour in the morning, while per-
haps those who enact the law
are enjoying their sleep which
'1,0 A' r
would be also beneficial to the
children.
We often wonder that they
stick to the old title, Daylight
Saving Time. In the first war
when there was danger of war,
and disturbances among nations
could have spread that would
have cause perhaps a shortage
of food at that time, it was nec-
essary for all to hake part and
give all the protection wecould
by cropping and putting away
in storage all of the surplus of
food for the country. In those
long years ago an extra hour
meant much to increase the
necessities of life. Then Day-
light Saving Time had a good
meaning, but today when all as
quiet in our land with plenty
for all and a surplus left over
there is no need to squeeze out
Standard Time, which was cre-
ated from the beginning of
time and not to be destroyed
by those who have only earthly
power.
