Dashwood Boy Scouts
The Boy Scouts held their
election of .officers with the fol-
lowing results: president, Hugh
Boyle; secretary -treasurer, Bill
Becker; group committee mem-
bers, Jack Ford, Ray Van Dors-
seleer, Elgin Kipfer and George
Tiernan; Cub leader, Ron Braid;
Scout leader, Lloyd Beaver.
Apple Day was Saturday, Oc-
tober 14, for Dashwood and sur.
Founding district. Anyone
wishing to join the Scouts or
Cubs should contact the leaders

They are planning a rummage

The October meeting of Dash-
wood WI was in charge of the
Monne economics and health
group with Mrs. Mervyn Tie-
rnan convenor. This was the
annual grandmothers' meeting.
'There were 22 members pres-
ent and 21 guests, One new
member was accepted.
Each grandmother was pre-
sented a corsage made by Mrs.
Eben Weigand. Everyone en-
joyed a pot -luck supper.

Viewers seem to like motion
pictures, according to the lat-
est national Nielsen rating tak-
en in the U.S.
The CBS Thursday and Friday
Night Movies were tied for first
position. Bonanza was 3rd,
with Tuesday Night at the
Movies number four and Gomer
Pyle in 5th spot. Saturday Night,
at the Movies placed 6th. Then
followed Andy Griffith, The
Lucy Show, Family Affair, a
Bab Hope Special and Be-
witched.
This survey was taken when
Mutiny on the Bounty was
played on ABC-TV and in Can-
ada on the CTV network. In
the U.S. survey, dt didn't deo
too well, according to this latest
Nielsen. What was the Cana-
dian rating? One was taken,
but nobody will talk about it.

survey was done, they would
not reveal the figures. Why?

which is being filmed in Eu-
rope.

Joan Saxon plays at least
seven character parts this sea-
son—ranging from a Yugoslav-
ian soldier in Garrison's Goril-
las to a hoodlum in Ironside.
Sheila MacRae who •plays
Alice Kramden in "The Honley-
nooners" on The Jackie Glea-
son Show is working on a rec-
ord album about great women
in Ameican history, bo be called
•"`Gallant Women".

Mrs. Robert Hoffman sang
several solos and Darlene Rader
played accordion solos. Read-
ings were given by 1VIrs. Eben
Weigand and Mrs. Mervyn Tie -

President Mrs. Glen Webb
presided for the „business, Mrs.
Leonard Schenk and Mrs. Irvin
Rader were appointed delegates
to the London area convention.
The November meeting was
postponed to November 14, clue
to the convention. The WI ac-
cepted an invitation from Sea -
forth WI far a dessert euchre
October 10. They will enter-
tain at Huronview December 6.
A donation ws given to the
blind. Mrs. Lucinda Mclsaac
received a prize for the oldest
grandmother and Mrs. T. H.
Hoffman for the youngest.
Thanksgiving Visitors
Miss Ola Wurm 'and ther
brother, Nesbitt Woods, 'of To-
ronto, called on Miss Pearl
Kraft.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Howe and
girls, of London, and Miss Deb-
bie Campbell, of Crediton, with
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rader and
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Saunders,
of Toronto, and Mr. and Mrs.
William Baker and family, of
Thamesford, with Mr. and Mrs.
Adolph Keller.
Mrs. Cora Geiser returned
home after spending a month
with her daughters and families
at Campbeilford and Hamilton.
Mr. and Mrs. Cherie Martene,
Sharon and Miss Janet Miller,
of Sault Ste. Marie, with Mr.
and Mrs, Dean McKnight.
Messrs. Eric Wolfe, of Lau-
don. and Tom Wolfe, of To-
ronto, with Mr. and Mrs. Stuart
Wolfe and Eleanor.
Mr. and Mrs. George Wolfe
and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mead
and Jilien, of Toronto, with
Mrs. Wes Wolfe. While here
they celebrated Mrs. Wolfe's
80th birthday with a dinner at
the Daswood Hotel. Same 20
guests were present. Follow-
ing the dinner the guests gath-
ered at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Stuart Wolfe, where bunco
was enjoyed.

Ward and Cheryl, Mr. Gerald
Mclsaac, all of Windsor; Mr.
Wdlfred McIsaac and Mr. Alex
Stewart, of Hudson, Mich., with
Mrs. Lucinda Mclsaac.
Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Rader and
Brian and Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Tiernan and Susan visited with
Vicar Arthur Rader at Bristol,
Connecticut
Harrison Weigand
Harrison Weigand, 62, passed
away at Clinton Public Hospital,
Sunday, October 8. He had
been in failing health for some
time.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs.
Beulah Desjardine, Stephen
Township and (Pearl) Mrs. Laird
Hendrick, Hay Township; two
brothers, Eben and Louis, 14th
concession of Hay.
The funeral was held from
the T. Harry Hoffman funeral
home, Wednesday, October 11,
with Rev. Merrill James in
charge. Interment was in the
EUB cemetery, Dashwood.
