William (Banker) Gossman
William Gossman, known to
,hundreds •as Santa, near and
far, passed away at South Hur-
on Hospital, Exeter, Wednesday,
Ootober 11, in his 77th year.
Surviving besides his wife,
the former Mabel Geiger, are
five daughters, (Dolores) Mrs.
James Cornford, London; (Jean)
Mrs. Herman Fleming, Kitch-
St. Joseph
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Sopha,
of Windsor, spent the week -end
with the former's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Adolph Sopha, on .this
highway. The elderly Sophas
accompanied them back to
Windsor and Detroit. They
were taken back on Saturday
last by their daughter and son-
in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Don Baier,
of Detroit. Also visitors at the
home of the Sophas on Sunday
last were from Zurich, Mr. and
Nlrs. Harold Dietrich and family.
Visitors at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Ducharme on
Saturday evening last were
from Zurich, Mr. and Mrs. Ron-
ald Ducharme and son Bob.
Also on Monday from Zurich
at the home of yours truly and
Mrs. Ducharme were Mrs.
Theresa Hartman, Mrs. Remi
D e n o m m e and Mrs. Avila
Serapes.
On Tuesday morning of this
presentweek et time of writing
more rain is falling which
means more delay for complet-
ing corn and bean harvest,
which could also mean a deduc-
tion in price of beans due to
wet weather, That and the
light yield, one would believe
the beans would be worth more
than the present price, if not,
many farmers will feel the ef-
fect of the loss. Farmers who
had planned on buying some
new implement, that will have
to be cancelled for some, also
the modernizing of their homes
for more comfort, that too for
some will have to be postponed.
All of that means disappoint-
ment for the farmers for some
time to come. Oh well, a cheer
up on high •spending would do
no harm - perhaps would do
much good.
0
Mr. and Mrs. Greg Fleming,
Crediton, rand Mrs. Theresa
Hartman were visitors on Mon
day with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald
Hartman, at London.
