,Stanley Township Makes Preparation
For New Polling Booth Locations
With a provincial election
upcoming October 17, council
in the Townsnip of Stanley is
busy engaged in revamping
their pofling subdivisions. All
seven pr e v 1 o us subdivisions
have been dissolved,. noted
Stanley Clerk Mel Graham, and
five new ones have been set up.
Polling subdivision 1 now
comprises all lots on conces-
sions one. two, three, four and
five nrerth of Huron County
Road 3. Number 2 polling sub-
division consists of all lots on
concessions one, two, three, four
and five south of Huron County
Road 3 and also lots three to

Polling subdivision five com-
prises lots three to 10 inclusive
on concession 10, 11, 12 and 13;
lots 15 to 25 inclusive conces-
sion Lake Road west; lots 15 to
23 inclusive on concession Lake
Road east; and lots 16 to 30
inclusive on concession South
boundary.
Clerk Graham said these new
polling subdivisions would be
in effect for the election next
month and that a polling sta-
tion in each subdivision would
be chosen soon.
Stanley council with Reeve
Ernie Talbot also decided to
give consideration to moving to
a two-year term of office. If
this is clone Stanley officials
would endeavor to have that
municipality's nominations and
elections during a non -election
year for Tuckersmith Township
in order to prevent a possibility
of too many new school board
members entering educational
administration at one time.
In other buiness. council paid
accounts in the amount of
$26.059.70; passed a money bor-
rowing by-law permitting bor-
rowing of up to $32,000; ac-
cepted the Talbot drainage
works report but turned the
Brucefield drainage works re-
port back to the engineer for
further study; and accepted the
tender of Gordon Heard Con-
struction, RR 3, Seaforth, for
the supply of 5,000 yards of pit
run gravel delivered on the
Goshen Road between lots five
and 10 respectively.
Grand Bend OPP Report Shows lithe
Trouble in Resort During Sumner
Prior to returning to his de-
tachment at Huntsville, Sgt. J.
H. Shepherd compiled the sta-
tistics for the summer season
at the Grand Bend C)PP detach-
ment.
sgt. Shepherd was in charge
of the 25 -man detachment and
the information supplied cov-
ered the period from May 15
to September 5,
During that time there were
43 thefts at the resort, although
most were of a minor nature.
Eight cases of break and enter
were investigated and 41 dis-
turbances.
The officers investigated 42
accidents. There were no fatal-
ities. A total of 75 traffic
charges were laid and 39 warn-
ings issued to drivers.
The largest figure on the re -
.port shows there were 172
liquor charges laid. The major-
ity of those occurred in the
early part of the season and
declined throughout the sum-
mer, due in large measure to
the $100 minimum fines levied
by Magistrate W. S. Pearson,
There were fines of $200 for
persons charged with creating
a disturbance.
The officers spent 240 hours
in court and 'there were 238
convictions handed down.
Total money collected in
fines isn't known, but presum-
ably ran aver $20,000.
Prior to his departure, Sgt.
Shepherd issued the following
statement: "We would like to
express our appreciation for as-
sistance received from the pub-
lic, the Grand Bend village
council, and His Worship Ma-
gistrate W. S. Pearson, QC,
which made our year in Grand
Bend much easier, and to the
press who have given us a good
and reasonable coverage during
the summer season".

The dedication of the Cana-
dian flag and the Christian flag
was presented on behalf of the
Ill -C Youth Fellowship by John
Goddard and Joan Simmons, at
the morning service at Hensall
United Church Sunday.
Recognition o f attendance

Rev. Harold F. Currie spoke on
"Partners with God". Memor-
ial flowers in the sanctuary
were in loving memory of Mrs.
Charles Sparrow, of Port Elgin,
placed by her daughter, Mrs.
Inez McEwen.

the resort and it noted that
only five liquor charges were
laid in the week which included
Labor Day. There were two
disturbances, one theft and one
break and enter.
