Reed, Superintendent A REAL ANTIQUE — Richard and Louise Regier, children of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Regier, Zurich, are quite happy with the old-fashioned cradle they purchased at the community auction last Saturday, at Blue Water Rest Home. Crop Report Weather conditions have been very favorable for the harvest- ing of white beans. On the average, bean yields appear lower this year. The range re- ported is from 10 to 30 bushels per acre with many fields yield- ing from 18 to 20 bushels per acre. The hot dry days along with frost free nights are needed for the further maturation of corn and some white bean crops. Little frost damage has occur- red except to some corn in north Huron and a few low lying acreages elsewhere. A large percentage of the winter wheat crop has been planted, with some fields start- ing to green up. Plowing has become very dif- ficult as a result of. the dry weather. A large acreages of good quality aftermath hay has been stored during the dry weather. Pastures are beginning to de- cline in production. FANCY QUALITY -48 OZ. A sincere thank you to all persons who tame and helped make the day such a wonderful success. This past week has brought more donations to the Horne. Special thanks to the following: Ford Haberer for his donation of a large quantity of honey; Mrs. Clarence Waddell for her gift of fresh garden corn; Bill Watson for his gift of baskets of apples. * * ' This past week I received a letter from a lady in Hyattsville, Maryland. Mrs. Dewitt, the lady, states that her father, Henry J. Gallman, who is 90 years of age, is the son of the late John and Maggie Gallman, and left Zurich when he was a young man to seek his for- tune. During the time his par- ents were still living he re- turned often to Zurich. How- ever, it has been some time since he was last here. Mrs. Dewitt wonders if there is any person or persons who would remember Henry J. Gall - man and would take the time to write him a few lines in a letter and ,tell him of •the past and present in Zurich. If there are any readers of this column who would care to do this, here is his address: Henry J. Gall - man, 947 N. Church Street, Jacksonville, Illinois, 62650. Mr. Gallman receives the Zurich paper regularly and so if you happen to read this column in this edition, very best wishes to you, Mr. Gallman, from all here at the Home and best wishes for continued health and pros- perity. * $ K See you all at the Zurich Fair! 0 Goshen 4-H Group Discuss Colours The second meeting of the Goshen 4-H girls was held at the home of Mrs. Bob McKinley on September 11, at 4:30 p.m. The roll call was "colors I am using for my bedroom". Judy McBride read the min- utes of the last meeting. The girls read how to choose ma- terial for bedroom accessories and how to determine the amount of material needed for accessories. This was then demonstrated by measuring a bed for different accessories, with five members taking part. The meeting was then closed with the 4-H pledge. Lutheran Women Hear Message From Rest Home Suh er intendnet At the September meeting of the Lutheran Church Women, 30 members, the pastor, and four visitors attended. Mrs. William Lawrence led the de- votions after which she intro- duced the guest speaker, Lance Reed, superintendent of the Bine Water Rest Home. Mr. Reed chose for his topic, "A basket of love", and he pointed out that in his work much love is necessary, He used a basket of beautifully arranged pink and white roses to illustrate the different types of love. Pink roses represent tender love, white roses pure love, and love, he said, is like a pyramid which at first is very small, with the love of God at the very top, and as one's love grows it spreads out on three sides. Each side of the pyra- mid represent a different love, one represents love for your family and close ones, the sec- ond represents love for those amongst whom you work or your business associates, or fel- low workers; the third side A THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 1267 McADAM'S TV Dial 236-4094, Zurich Service to all MAKES AND MODELS represent those in your com- munity and others whom you meet and learn to know. After a short session of ques- tions and answers, the speaker was thanked by Mrs. Lawrence, who brought the devotional part to a close. The president, Mrs. Fink- beiner, took charge of the busi- ness. The visiting committee reported having made 16 calls to sick and shut-ins. It was decided by vote to cater to an upcoming wedding of a church member, in the beginning of October. Members were reminded to attend the retreats being held the following days at Hanover. After adjournment refreshments were served by the committee in charge. 0 Renew Your Subscription Now Bob's Body Shop A Complete Service On BODY SHOP REPAIRS—REFINISHING TOWING SERVICE al FREE ESTIMATES Bob Forrester, Proprietor Dial 236-4959 (At Rear of Taylor Motors Garage) • rowni&s DRIVE-IN Theatre -- Clinton Box Office Opens at 8:06 FRIDAY and SATURDAY — DOUBLE FEATURE Country Western Music. in "SECOND FIDDLE TO A STEEL GUITAR" Showing at 8:30 All Star Cast of Top Western Music Stars in Color — Plus "The Poppy Is Also a Flower" Showing at 10:15 Yui Brynner, Senta Berger Jack Hawkins Color Cartoon Coming Next: Fri., Sat. —Sept. 29-30 "DEVIL'S ANGELS" (Restricted) and "Trunk To Cairo" GENERAL MOTORS is pleased to announce the Appointment of HURON MOTOR PRODUCTS MAIN STREET ZURICH, ONTARIO as authorized dealers for PONTIAC ACADIAN ACADIAN BEAUMONT BUICK BUICK SPECIAL VAUXHALL VAUXHALL VIVA CADILLAC GMC TRUCKS We suggest that you visit Huron Motor Products and let them show you how they are set up to serve all your present and future motoring needs.
