The new exterior 'Sweepline' styling features longer hoods, shorter rear decks, redesigned head- lights and tail -light assemblies, hidden wind- shield wipers, and front and rear side mark- er lamps. Interiors are highlighted by pad- ded instrument panels and a new ignition warning buzzer system. The 1968 Skylark Custom offers a choice of three engines: from a standard 250 cu, in. six -cylinder en- gine to an optional 350 cu. in. V8. The Skylark Series comprises a 4 -door Hardtop Sedan, a 2 -door Convertible, a 4 -door Sedan, and a 2 -door Sport Coupe, shown above. »etdaet Miss Sylvia Henderson, who is on the staff of the Bank of Montreal, is a patient in Clin- ton Community Hospital, hav- ing been admitted last Wednes- day. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Merritt, St. Thomas, were week -end guests with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Payne and Wayne. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hyde, of Hensall, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shaddick, of London, attended Expo this week. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Lindsay, Pamela, Sheila and Kevin, of Hamilton, were week -end visi- tors with Mrs. John Henderson and family. Rally Day Rally day will be observed in Hensel" United Church Sunday morning, September 17. A combined service of the morn- ing congregation and Sunday school will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday school children will ac- company their parents to the church. The Hi -C will dedicate new flags to the church as their centennial project. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Bell, Pauline and Troyann have re- turned from a two week holiday to Expo, Upper Canada Village, Morrisburg; Fort Wellington National Historic Park, Pres- cott; Woodland Park Zoo, at Brockville; Old Fort Henry, at Ringston, and Lunge Harbor, Lindsay. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Chuter and family, of Camp Borden, were week -end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Doug Cooper and family, and attended the Richardson reunion. The Lakeview Quartet from Zurich, composed of John Geig- er, Ervin Martin, Stewart Stec- kle and Ralph Gingerich, sang three lovely numbers (unaccom- panied) at the United Church MRS. Troyann will receive a bronze medal for dancing. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith and Jerry, and Mrs. Inez Mc- Ewen visited on Sunday with Mrs. McEwen's mother and Mrs. Smith's grandmother, Mrs. Charles Sparrow, who was a patient in Southampton hos- pital. John Soldan, who has been a patient in South Huron Hos- pital, Exeter, for ten days suf- fering from a fall he received at a farm near Dashwood, re- turned home Monday of this week. Orville Smith is a patient in Victoria Hospital, Lon do n, where he underwent surgery. Mrs. Charles Sparrow ' Funeral service for Mrs. Charles Sparrow, of Port Elgin, who passed away early Monday morning in Southampton hos- pital, was held from the Stod- dart funeral home, Paisley, on Wednesday, September 13. Sur- viving are two daughters, Mrs. Inez McEwen, Hensall; Mrs. Janet Darroch, Paisley; three sans, Fred and George, .of Dob- binton; Oscar, Port Elgin, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. 0 UCW Unit 4 Study Topic Unit 4 of the Hensel' UCW meeting of the autumn season convened on Thursday, Septem- ber 7, in Hensall United Church, with an attendance of 27. Christie reported on her pleasant spiritual experi- ence as a delegate to Alma Col- lege for four days •in August, The theme of the school being "Called by God and His purpose for me". The study book was present- ed by Mrs. J. Flynn "On the church and the arts". An etude was played on the piano by Miss Greta Laramie, and it was greatly enjoyed. The general meeting will be held on October 23; when Mrs. E. Geiger, of London, formerly of Hensel', will be guest speak- er. Unit 4 will be in charge of the meeting. A workshop will be held in the United Church here on Oc- tober 2, from 10 to 4 o'clock, when Miss Marjorie Smith, of Toronto, will be the speaker. The theme: "Self Determin- ation". Mrs. Grace Harpole was host- ess for the meeting which closed with a social hour. Teenagers Donate Life Preservers At the regular council aneet- ing in the village of Bayfield last Tuesday night, Miss Monica Gemeinhardt, representing a large group of teenagers, pre- sented $25 •to council to pro- vide life saving equipment. The reeve accepted and expressed appreciation on behalf of coun- cil, It was suggested by council- lor Oddleifson that a suitable plaque •be placed on the equip- ment stand. A recent request of council to the department of transport asking that life saving equip- ment be provided and main- tained on the Bayfield harbor and pier, brought a reply from the department which was read stating that the practice of such installation had been discon- tinued. Experience has shown that such equipment was often wantonly destroyed and not available when needed. The de- partment regretted the recent loss of lives and had no objec- tion to the installation of life saving equipment by the mu- nicipality. A special rate of five mills was set by councilto provide funds for the purchase of the former Bayfield school. The residential assessment for 1967 is 17.5, which did not change; the county rate is 17.9, up from 17.3 in 1966; public school rate is 11.95, up from 11.8; the high school is 19, up from 16.4. The special rate is five mills, The total mill rate is 71-35 mills, up from 63 mills in 1966, 0 Obituary WALTER McBEATH John Walter McBeath, of Brucefield, passed away sud- denly at Seaforth Community Hospital, Monday evening, Sep- tember 11, in his 70th year. Mr. McBeath, a prominent resident of Brucefield, was su- perintendent of the Tucker - smith Municipal Telephone sys- tem for 25 years. Surviving are his wife, the former Pearl Brock; one son, Douglas, Windsor;. one sister, Mrs. J. R. (Janet) Murdoch, of Brucefield, and one grand- daughter. Public funeral service will be held from the Bonthron funeral home, Hensall, on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Interment in Braid's Cemetery.
