Campers along the lake or
other camping places found the
past week -end a rather dis-
agreeable one for all are not
equipped with ready making
heat therefore they found them-
selves a little embarrassed and
the only way for them to sur-
vive the chilly night through
was to get up from their sleep-
ing quarters and hop around.
So said two young couples from
Windsor when they had decided
to motor north and landing in
some part of the Pinery the
past week. The two young
couples had made a quick de-
cision to leave the city for a
few days, loading their luggage
and sleeping tent and started
their journey northward to the
Pinery, a few miles south of
Grand Bend.
Regardless of the discomfort
they had to put up with on
their last visit, so they said
they would return in two weeks
perhaps with the necessary
coverage to keep them warm.
Those two young couples are
the grandchildren of yours
truly and Mrs. Ducharme, and
while camping they paid them
a visit on Sunday last relating
their experience on their camp-
ing trip.
They Ieft for their Windsor
home on Sunday last not feeling
the effect of their outing and
in good spirit. When they re-
turn in two weeks perhaps the
summer days will have arrived

warmth for comfort,

Zurich Ithigs Win Two Games of Three
Played With Mitchell BP's Last Week
The Zurich Kings came out
on top of a three -game series
with Mitchell BPs, winning two
games and losing one. Last
Wednesday night in Mitchell
they came through with a
thrilling 4-3 victory, and then
in the first half of a Sunday
double-header they lost 9-3, but
came back in the second game
on their home diamond to win
9-7.
The Kings face a rugged
schedule this week, as they
were to have played Walkerton
in Zurich last night, and on Fri-
day night they play host to
Chesley. The third game of
the week will see the locals
entertaining St. Marys in a Sun-
day contest at the local ball
park.
In the Wednesday night con-
test, 'the locals managed to take
advantage ,of only four hits,
combined with four walks and
two Mitchell errors to eke out
a close 4-3 win, Mitchell outhit
the Zurich nine 8-4.
The local scored all four runs
in the fourth inning, while Mit-
chell scored one in the second
and two in their half of the
fourth.
Bob Johnston, Earl Wagner,
Don O'Brien and Phil Overholt
each hit safely once.
Robert McNaughton started
on the mound for Zurich and
pitched well until he got into
trouble in the fourth. He was
relieved by Dick Bedard in the
fifth.
Mitchell 9 -Zurich 3
In the, first half of the Sun-
day double-header, the big Mit-
chell bats pounded a total of
13 hits as they came up with
the big 9-3 victory. They scored
two in the first, two in the
fifth and added their five big
runs in • the sixth inning.
Zurich scored two in the first
and picked up their final run
in the sixth.

Bob Johnston, Don O'Brien and
Dick Bedard each hit safely
once.
Dick Bedard started on the
mound for Zurich, and gave
way to Jim Pfaff in the sixth
inning.
Zurich 9 -Mitchell 7
By far the most thrilling
game in the three played was
the second half of the Sunday
twin -bill, which saw Zurich win
by a 9-7 score. At the end of
four and a half innings the
score was tied 5-5, but then the
locals came through with a big
rally in the last half of the
fifth to account for five more
runs.
Zurich scored their first two
runs in the second inning, and
then ,added two more in the
third, before coming up with
their big five -run rally in the
fifth.
Bob Johnston, George Haggitt
and Doug Stade led the Zurich
attack with two safeties each,
while the other hits were
banged out by Don O'Brien,
Robert McNaughton, Tom DaI-
ryrnple and Kevin McKinnon.
The old mastermind, Don
O'Brien, went the entire nine
innings for the locals and was
only in trouble once, in the
fifth, when Mitchell picked up
four of thir runs. The rest of
the way he was in complete
control, as he gave up only
nine hits over the nine -inning
route. He struck out eight and
walked only one.
