Crop Report
Root rot has been observed
in some areas of some white
bean fields. Lower leaves ap-
pear yellow but new growth
appears healthy. Yield will
likely be affected. Potato leaf
hoppers have been seen in
greater than usual numbers on
white beans.
Haying is approximately 50%
completed but continues to be
delayed by wet, humid weather.

ST. JOSEPH and DRYSDALE
Alfred Ducharme, Correspondent
On Sunday 'evening last visi-
tors with Mr. .and Mrs. Blaise
Ducharme and family, who are
vacationing in the Masse sum-
mer cottage nearby St. Joseph,
were from Grand Bend Mr. and
Mrs. Kip Green and from Goder-
ich Mr. and Mrs. Ben Graham
and from Windsor Mr, and Mrs.
Cyril Ducharme, The evening
was spent as usual, chatting
and renewing past incidents
and what -all to make it enjoy-
able. The Durcharmes from
Windsor spent a few days with
the former's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Ducharme.
Farmers are busy with their
haying and so far the past few
days were good for that work
which is necessary. Regardless
of late seeding the spring crop
is promising and so is the fall
wheat. Beans are also coming
along as well as can be ex-
pected.
Mostly all the cottages along
the lake are occupied, we hope
they all enjoy their vacation.
Expo Year
The year 1967 will be a year
long remembered by all classes
of people from different lands,
different languages, different
ways of living and dressing
with the custom of their coun-
try. At Expo you will meet
people of different nationali-
ties, you will meet the weak
and the strong, the rich and
the poor.
All people will be in some
way affected, for some time it
will mean more to some than
to others. By the excitment,
perhaps it will affect their
health, perhaps 'by what they
possess on their person they
may lose in some way, for there
will be all classes of people
they will meet. On the other
hand what they will see will
be instructive, they will see
things that will be interesting
and something to talk about in

They will see the custom of
many countries, how they dress
and how they go about in life,
from them they will learn
much. There will be many
from distant lands. It perhaps
will be good for Canada for it
will be interesting to many the
way of Canadian life, the Many
advantages it has given them
for those who want to become
Canadian citizens to live in a
land of plenty.
Those who come from afar
will learn much and will be
able to take their knowledge
back to their native land.
All of that will be a gain to
all for their life in the future
and besides those of our land
will show respect to the land
they love and for others they
will in many ways be rewarded.
