Mr. and Mrs. Elgin MacAr-
thur, Snowflake, Man,, spent
last week with their cousins,
Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle, on
their way home from a trip to
Otawa and Expo.
Lois Wright, Faye Troyer,
Tanice Bonthron, Rod Chapman,
Brian Campbell, Brad Mous-
seau and Al Corbett, from Hen-
sall district, left Monday morn-
ing by bus for Expo with a
group of 40 teenagers from Ex-
eter and Cromarty, with Rev.
Children Enioy
New Rec Program
Ninety-two Hensall children
have registered for swimming
in Exeter. Due to the high per-
centage •of beginners, lessons
will be extended to 2:30 p.m.
The bus will leave from the
town hall at 12:40 each day and
return to the Arena at 2:45
p.m.
The turnout for roller skat-
ing during the four days last
week was higher than antici-
pated. Approximately 75 at-
tended on Monday and Wednes
day evenings and approximate -
fly 60 younger skater partici-
pated on both Tuesday and
Thursday afternoons.
The playground program will
commence at 9 a.m. next Mon-
day. One hundred and fifty-
seven playground registrations
have been received. The rec-
reation staff purchased arts and
crafts supplies and sports equip-
ment in London. Among the
new playground inovations will
be tetherball and paddle tennis.
On Saturday, July 15, to co-
incide with Frontier Days, the
playground leaders will conduct
active and quiet games for the
children at the playgrounds
from 2 to 5 p.m.
On Thursday, July 13, from
10 to 11 a.m. a raiding band
of playground Indians will seize
the town hall after parading
around Hensall.
MRS. MAUDE REDDEN, Editor
and Mrs. J. C. Boyne, of Exeter,
and Mr. and Mrs, Gerald Cary,
of Cromarty, as chaperons. They
expect to return home Friday
evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Percy Bartlett,
Thamesford; Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Barber and family, London, vis-
ited recently with Mr. and Mrs.
S. McQueen and Mr. and Mrs.
H. Snell.
Very worshipful W. 0. Good-
win, who has held the position
as secretary of the A.F,&A.M.,
Huron Lodge 224, for the past
32 years, has resigned. Earl
Campbell will take over as sec-
retary.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Moir and
family have taken up residence
in their home on Oxford Street,
Which they recently purchased.
Mr. and Mrs. William Forrest
celebrated their 58th wedding
anniversary quietly , at their
home on Friday, June 30.
Mr. and Mrs. George Hess are
visiting with their daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs, J. L.
McCloy, and family, at Don

General Meeting
Of Hensall UCW
The general meeting •of the
United Church Women of Hen-
sall was held Monday evening
with unit three in charge. Mrs.
J. McAllister, president, opened
with a poem, "Look well to this
day".
Mrs. Ken Elder persided for
the program and opened with
a poem, "If Jesus came to your
house to spend a day or two
would you keep on doing the
things you do every day?"
Mrs. Albert Shirray presented
the devotional •on stewardship,
using the theme, "We give thee
but thine own".
Mrs. Berne McKinley presided
at the piano and played several
sacred numbers. The audience
accompanying her with song.
for the latter part, which in-
cluded the n e w centennial
hymn.
The study on "Stewardship"
was in charge of Mrs.. V. M.
Pyette, assisted by Mrs. Lorne
Chapman and Mrs. Vern Alder -
dice.
Douglas Currie presented a
film, "Man and his world",
which is the theme of Expo '67,
and the next best thing to being
there in person. Courtesy re-
marks were given by Mrs. Oliver
Jaques.
Mrs. McAllister chaired the
business. Mrs. Edison Forrest
presented a complete report of
the treasury, and various other
reports were given. Mrs. E.
Chipchase reported for supply
and welfare, stating that 18
cartons of clothing had been
packed and 10 of them sent to
the Salvation. Army, London;
five to Toronto for overseas re-
lief, and three to Winch Hos-
pital, B.C.

sall Girl Guide company spent
an ejoyable week -end visiting
at the home of Guide Lieuten-
ant Gladys McGregor, Kippen.
Mr. and Mrs, Gordon Love
are vacationing in the Prairie
Provinces.
Mrs, Harry Caldwell and Mrs.
Stirling Graham are spending
a few days at Expo.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Riley, Mrs.
Elizabeth Riley and Mrs. Annie
Reid have returned home after
a pleasant visit with relatives
at McKenzie Island.

who are planning to come on

The Vacation Bible school
will start on July 3. Sessions

Valley, Alberta, visited relatives
here last week.

Haying is later than usual
but, ,weather permitting, should
be general this week. Yield of
hay crops is above average,
More haylage than usual is be-
ing stored in Huron.
Most field crops are growing
well. Weed control by culti-
vation has been very difficult
because of wet soil conditions.
Winter wheat is in full head
and winter barley has started
to ripen.
Warm sunny days are re-
quired for maximum growth of
all crops.
