OLD-TIME CHARIOT — One of the feature
attractions at the Hensall Spring Fair last Tues-
day night was this old-time chariot, being pulled
by a four -pony hitch belonging to George Beer.
Driver of the outfit here is Bob Baker, in typical
dress of 100 years ago. The large parade was
termed the best in the history of the fair.

celebrated his 90th birthday on
Saturday at a 'birthday supper
at the home of his son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. .and Mrs.
Bert Thomson, and family, with
:the remainder 'of the evening
spent watching television.
Flowers in Carmel Presbyter-
ian Church sanctuary on Sun-
day were in loving memory of
the late Mr. Rex Dick, placed
by Mrs. Dick and family.
A reunion of the Canadian
farmers and ranchehs tour, led
by Roy Jewell to Australia and
New Zealand in 1965, was held
at Homestead Heights at the
home of Mrs. Harry Caldwell,
Sunday, June 25. Twenty-one
members were present from
Southwestern Ontario.
Paul Bedard, of London, has
returned home after a week's
vacation with his grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Bell.
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Bell,
Pauline and Troyann were in
Port Huron, Mich., on Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. W. Edwards, of
Winona, were recent visitors at

of Toronto, spent a few days
with relatives in Hensall and
vicinity.
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Eiler, of
Toronto, spent a few days with
Mrs. Hugh McMurtrie.
United Church Notes
The United Church congrega-
tion and Presbyterian Church
congregation will be meeting
together this year for the cus-
tomary summer schedule, with
the services during July at the
Presbyterian Church and in Au-
gust at the United. Church.
Flowers in the church sanc-
tuary on Sunday were placed
by Mrs. Ross (Donna) Corbett
in .loving memory of her father,
Harvey Taylor, and by the Mc-
Naughton family, in loving
memory of Lorne McNaughton.

Arrange Picnic
The regular meeting of Am-
ber Rebekah Lodge was held
Wednesday evening, June 21,
with noble grand Mrs. Lindsay
Eyre presiding. As this was
the last meeting before the
holidays, plans were made to
have the annual IOC+F and Re-
bekah picnic at the Centennial
Park, Hensall, on Sunday, July
9. Officers of the lodge are
to be in charge of arrange-
ments.
Members were well pleased
with their Centennial float
which was entered by the Re-
bekahs and Oddfellows in the
Centennial parade at the Hen-
sall Spring Fair, and which re-
ceived second prize.
The newly -elected officers, to
be installed in the fall, are as
follows: Noble grand, Mrs. Jack
Corbett; vice -grand, Mrs. Earl
Campbell; recording secretary,
Mrs. Leona Parke; financial sec-
retary,. Mrs. Bertha McGregor;
treasurer, Mrs. Ed Corbett.

Will Assist At
Hensall Centennial
Kippen East Women's Insti-
tute met at the home of Mrs.
Robert Kinsman on Thursday,
June 22. Co -hostess was Mrs.
Ross Sararas. President Mrs.
Grant MacLean presided and
opened with a poem on "Hay-
ing", Roll call, "Did you know?"
was very informative. After
the singing of "My Wild Irish
Rose" in unison, the minutes
were read by the secretary, Mrs.
James Drummond, and ap-
proved.
A letter of appreciation from
Marion Roberts was read and
verbal thanks of appreciation
was given by Mrs. Drummond
and Miss Margaret McKay.
Plans for the graduation ban-
quet at Huron Centennial
School were finalized.
Regarding Hensall Centennial
Day, it was decided to help
with the booth July 15 and also
contribute a float for the par-
ade. Plans for the bus trip on

June 28 were finalized,
Mrs. Cecil Pullman chaired
the program during which Mrs.
Joyce Cooper gave a very in-
teresting and informative paper
on "Salt", Mrs. Pullman pre-
sented each lady with two
pamphlets relating to the sub-
ject "Salt".
Mrs, Alex McGregor's motto,
"It takes face powder to catch
a man but it takes baking
powder to keep him," was very
thought provoking.
Mrs. Charles Eyre gave the
history of Quebec. Mrs. Wil-
liam Gibson reported for cur-
rent events and Mrs. Ross
Sararas for home economics.
The meeting closed with the
Queen, A contest was enjoyed
and lunch was served by the
hostesses, Mrs. Kinsman and
Mrs. Sararas, and the commit-
tee: Mrs. William Bell, Mrs.
James Drummond, Mrs. Harry
Caldwell and Mrs. Stewart
Pepper.

Arnold Circle
Carmel Presbyterian. Church
Arnold Circle met Monday eve-
ning, June 19, for the June
meeting with a centennial
theme carried throughout. Coal
oil lamps, centennial costumes,
etc., were in evidence.
President Mrs. Robert Bell
opened with a poem, Worship,
"The first Presbyterian Church
in Canada", was given by Mrs.
Gordon Schwalm, Mrs. Douglas
Shirray and Mrs. Mildred Bell.
For roll call each member
brought a guest and named a
former minister of the church.
Mrs. Harold Bonthron enter-
tained with pictures of her trip
to Hawaii.
Cake and ice cream was
served by hostesses Mrs. Harold
Campbell and Mrs. Homer
Campbell. Twenty-four attend-
ed this interesting meeting.
