Cutting the ribbon to the park
were Mrs. Mary Martene and
Mrs. Susan Merrier. .A11 three
ladies are over 90 years old.
Alvin Walper was narrator
for the pageant written by Mrs.
Irvin Rader. Mrs, Rader, who
has spent years searching old
files, documents and newspap-
ers and questioning life-long
residents of Dashwood and the
surrounding area, had traced
the history of the village since
the arrival of Freid brothers in
the early 1800s, when Dashwood
was known as Freidsburg.
During the pageant, scenes
from the past, mounted on flat
wagon racks and trucks, were
drawn into place before the
crowd. Some of those appear-
ing were Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Gaiser and family and Mr. and
, shade (as per the poem).
With Mrs. Rader and Mrs.
Mrs, Howard Datars and family 1 Letta Taylor, Rev. James and
portraying the Christian family 1 Rev. Earl Steinman, of the
life of the past, with Rev. Mer- i L u t h e r a n Church, were in
rill James, of the ELM Church, charge of the pageant.
