Mother and Son
Die Within Day

has been a patient in St. Mary's
Hospital. London, passed away
on Saturday, June 17, the day
after her son, Paul Joseph Be-
dard. died in Alexandra General
and Marine Hospital in Goder-
ich.
Mr.a. Denomme, the former
Virginia Denomme. was 92
years ref age and her son was
68.
She -s survived by two daugh-
ter. Mrs. Alex (Angeline)
Massc Windsor, and Mrs. Al.
free ;Emily) Meidinger, Zurich,
and •r^^::e sister, Mrs, Josephine
Du. arnie. Zurich.
Paaneral service for Mrs. Den-
orrn e was on Tuesday at St.
Peter's Church, St. Joseph, with
interment there. Westlake
funeral home was in charge.
Mr. Bedard is survived by
his wife, the former Emma
Clara Dennomy; two daughters.
Mrs. Joseph (Velma) Donnelly,
Goderich, and Mrs. George
(Shirley -Anne) Wright, Toronto;
five sons, Clare, Isidore and
Tony, all of Goderich; Terrance,
Lambeth; and Neil, Toronto;
and two sisters, Mrs. Masse,
Windsor, and Mrs. Meidinger,
Zurich.
Funeral for Mr. Bedard was
Monday from St. Peter's Church,
Goderich, with Stiles funeral
hone in charge. Interment was
in Colborne Roman Catholic
Cemetery.

Couple Married in Halifax

ter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey
Clausius, of Zurich, and James
Douglas Willis, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert James Willis, of
Goderich, exchanged rings and
marriage vows in St. Nicholas'
Chapel, Halifax, Nova Scotia,
May 19, at 7 o'clock p.m„ with
the Rev Jackson officiating.
Given in marriage by her fa-
ther, the bride chose a floor -
length gown of cotton lace,
styled with a scoop neckline
and long lily -point sleeves,
There was a large bow at the
back waist from which a lace
train extended. A large bow,
backed by a crystal tiara, held
her silk illusion veil. She car-
ried a cascade of red roses and
lily -of -the -valley.
Mrs. Gary Gardiner was ma-
tron of honor. She wore a
floor -length gown of turquoise
crepe with Iace bodice, and car-
ried a bouquet of white and
blue carnations.
Gary Gardiner was grooms-
man.
Following a reception at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack
O'Brien in Shearwater, the
bride changed to a tangerine
tent dress, with full sleeves,
and a large bow in the back.
White accessories completed
the ensemble.
The couple will make their
home in Dartmouth, Nova
Scotia.

3, Preeter has exchanged his
Ford for a new Grafi-Dort auto.
G. S, Howard conducted the
lower school normal entrance
examinations at Hensall this
week, while W. McKay, of Hen-
sall, conducted similar exams
at the school here.
Part of a letter from Pte.
Gordon Goetz in France to his
mother, Mrs. J. K. Goetz, Dash-
wood: "I suppose you have all
read about the gallant Cana-
dians and Vimy Ridge, Believe
me, I would rather be reading
about it in Canada than taking
part in it. I saw so many fel-
lows killed and wounded during
the advance that I am sick and
tired of it all and so is every-
body else. I don't know any
news to tell you. It's the same
thing here day in and day out,
Of course we move sometimes
and dodge shells every night."

JUNE, 1927
A quiet matrimonial event was
solemnized by Rev. H. Rembe
at the home of Mrs. A. John-
ston on Tuesday morning, June
21, when her youngest daugh-
ter, Miss Pearl, was united in
holy matrimony to Albert Kalb-
fleisch.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schilbe
and Mr. and Mrs. Julius Brock
spent Sunday with friends in
Varna. .
Harold and Earl Johnston, of
Toronto, visited their uncle,
Thomas Johnston, on Sunday.
Leonard and Emanual Sararas
of the Sauble Line were week-
end visitors at New Hamburg
and other eastern points.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Nadiger and
daughter Helen, Dashwood, are
spending their holidays in Mich-
igan.

JUNE, 1942
The local division court, at
which Judge T. M. Costello, of
Goderich, presided on Monday,
was quite largely attended as
there were a number of inter-
esting cases argued out and
barristers James Morley, of Ex-
eter, and G. Hays, of Seaforth,
were in attendance.
Owing to the wet weather a
goodly number of farmers have
been obliged to resow their

who has been parish priest of
St. Boniface Church for the
past 13 years, has been trans-
ferred to St. Michael's Church,
Ridgetown.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Edig-
hoffer and son Grant have left
for Grand Bend where the
former will operate his barber
shop for the summer months.

progressing favorably as a pa-
tient in the Children's Hospital
at London.
The provincial Highway No.
85 through town is being re-
surfaced in the easterly portion
of town, which is .indeed much
needed.
Joan Weber, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Weber, Dash-
wood, was rushed by ambulance
to London hospital where she
underwent surgery.
J. W. Haberer and Ward Fritz
made business trips to Toronto
recently to attend the Interna-
tional Trade Fair.

Doris Elaine Rapien, daugh-

came the bride of Harold Jacob
Deichert on Friday, June 7.
Rev. and Mrs. Heimrich, of
Brantford, spent a couple of
days in and aronud Zurich last
week.
Pastor Otto Winter, of St.
Peter's Lutheran Church, at-
tended the synodical convention
of the Canada Synod of the
Lutheran Church held in Kit-
chener.
Last Thursday at the noon
hour the local fire brigade was
called to the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Philip Hartman, of the
Bronson Line, when their chim-
ney fire took place.
Rev. and Mrs. A. M. Amacher
and son Dennis returned from
a motor trin to Calgary, Alber-
ta, last Thursday.
