Comments on the scripture were
given by Mrs. John Robinson.
The chapter from the study
book entitled, "The Church and
Polities'". was interestingly pre-
sented by Mrs. John Robinson,
Mrs. Walter Eckel, Mrs. Doug
Robinson and Mrs. Elmer Hay-
ter. The influences of the
Catholic Church in Quebec,
Anglican Church in Upper Can-
ada and many other groups who
came with the high tide of
European settlers on political
issues of the day were shown.
The ,chapter ended with a chal-
lenge to the church to a com-
plete involvement in politics
and striving for world peace.
Hymn 388 was sung and
prayer by Mrs. John Robinson.
Business was conducted by Mrs.
Bruce Keys.
Minutes were read and ap-
proved and roll call answered.
Reports were given by Mrs.
Jim Keys and Mrs. Arnold Keys.
Cards of thanks were received
from the Keys family and Mrs.
Elizabeth Carnie. The church

Entertainment
Mrs. John Baker was hostess
for the regular meeting of Hen-
sall Kinette Club, Wednesday,
June 14. The group was re-
minded that the chub, together
with the Kinsmen Club, will
provide entertainment for pa-
tients at 0 n,t a r i o Hospital,
Goderich, on July 26,
The last meeting of the sea-
son, scheduled for June 28, will
be cancelled in favor of Kins-
men Ladies' Night, June 29.
A birthday party was held for
Mrs. William Fuss, Mrs. Robert
Caldwell and Mrs. J. W. Drys-
dale, who were observing birth-
days.

MP WINS BUDGIE
R. E. McKinley, Huron MP,
won a budgie at the Cub -Scout
draw in Dashwood on Sunday
in connection with the Centen-
nial celebration there.
Six budgies were donated by
Ray Van Dorsselaer to boost
the Cub -Scout treasury. When
Mr. McKinley did not tare to
keep the talkative bird, Alvin
Walper auctioned it off to the
highest bidder, Irvin Rader.
Other winners were: Len Res-
temayer, Robbie Wein, Wilmar
Pfaff, Gord Clements and Gord

At Sunday's mammoth Cen
tennial parade, winners in the
bicycle contest were: boys,
Terry Gibson and Robert Res-
temayer; girls, Vicki Miller and
Eleanor Salmon. Tricycle: boys,
Dean Boyle and Peter Martene;
girls, Sandra Tyler and Barbara
Keller.

At Hensall Fair
Reeve Minnie Noakes, Hen-
sall, and Reeve Elgin Thomp-
son, Tuekersmith, both in Cen-
tennial dress and riding in .a
buggy, led the parade to the
grounds where the annual Hen -
sail Spring Fair was held on
Tuesday evening.
Speakers at the opening cere-
monies were Mr. Thompson,
who is president of the South
H u r on Agricultural Society;
Mrs. Noakes, who officially
opened the fair; Warden Don'
McKenzie bringing greetings
from the County of Huron, and
R. E, McKinley, Huron MP, com-
menting on the Centennial en-
thusiasm shown at the fair.
Parade winners were: Cen-
tennial float, George Beer and
Bob Baker, Oddfellows, and
Clinton Junior Farmers; busi-
nessmen's float, Ron Wareing's
Freeze -King, Bill Fuss Electric,
and Ross Richardson BA; pon-
ies, Lloyd Mousseau and family,
Bab Bell and family, Bob Philip
and Allen Philip.
Freak outfits: Gary Treibner,
Brucefield, and Stewart Broad -
foot, Brucefield; old model car,
Catherine Fuss, Ken Reichert
and Pat Soldon; best decorated
bicycle, Steven Dallas; best
school child's float, Doug Dick,
Cromarty.

Blenheim, were week -end visi-
tors with Stewart McQueen and
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snell, and
also visited with Mrs. Stewart
McQueen in South Huron Hos-
pital, Exeter.
Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Grassie, of
Merlin, were week -end guests
with Mr. and Mrs. V. M. Pyette.
Mr and Mrs. Robert Kell, of
Churchill, near Barrie, visited
Mr. and Mrs. Herb Jones re-
cently.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Avery,
Scott and Lisa, Sarnia, were
week -end visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Flynn. Miss Joyce
Flynn returned home with them
for a vacation.

ing a week's vacation with their

Gascho, Zurich, and Mr. and
Mrs. W. C. Cochrane, Goderich.
Jack Turkheim is a patient
in St. Joseph's Hospital, Lon-
don, where he underwent surg-
ery on Wednesday.
Mrs. Pauline Jeffrey has ar-
rived home from Windsor,
where she visited for two weeks
with her children, Mr. and Mrs.
Lloyd Jeffrey,
Miss Reet Nurmberg, former-
ly of Zurich, visited with Mr.
and Mrs. Ed Datars last week-
end. Reet is a graduate of To-
ronto University and will teach
physical training at the Uni-
versity of Scarborough, begin-
ning next month.
Mrs. Elva Younge and friend
from Hamilton; Mrs. Cliff Don-
ovan and Mrs. Kathleen Burdge,
of London; Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Meyers, of White Oak; Mr. and
Mrs. Ricky Drew and daughter
Lisa, of Lambeth, and Charles
Meyers and friend, of London,
visited with Mrs. Mary Hey.
Ricky Mustard and Bill Col-
dan, of Hensall, left Sunday for
Yellowknife in the Northwest
Territories, where they will be
employed for the summer.
Miss Mary Ellen Burdge, who
spent the past week at the home
of Mrs. Mary Hey, has returned
to London.

Lutheran Women
Arrange Plans for
various Activities
The Lutheran Church Women
met on Tuesday, June 13, with
29 members and the pastor
present. Mrs. Charles Kalb-
fleisch led the devotions with
Miss Anna Deters assisting.
Mrs. J. Haberer and Mrs.
Kalbfleisch presented a short
skit depicting the great rift ex-
isting between people of dif-
ferent backgrounds. During
the discussion following the
skit it was pointed out how this
could be overcome if everyone
learns to communicate and try
to help each other.
Mrs. Earl Weido and Mrs.
Leona Rader took the offerings.
Ten dollars was collected for
the Cystic Fibrosis Fund. The
devotions were closed with a
hymn.
The president took the chair.
Fourteen calls on the sick and
aged were reported by the com-
mittee of the previous month.
The ladies offered to be re-
sponsible for the coffee and
cool drinks for the congrega-
tional picnic to be held on the
lawn at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Kalbfleisch in July. They
will also serve refreshments to
the children attending Vacation
Bible School next month,
In November the residents of
Blue Water Rest Home will be
entertained to a birthday party
by the group.
Twenty-five dollars was voted
toward the Auxiliary of Water-
loo Seminary.
The meeting adjourned for a
short fellowship gathering when
the committee served a delici-
ous lunch of cake and straw-
berries.
Fire Destroys
Cottage At Bend
Damage has been estimated
at $25,000 in a fire on Monday
which destroyed the Beach 0'
Pines home of Exeter lawyer
C. Van Laughton.
Mr. Laughton, his wife and
family were away when the fire
broke out.
An investigation is underway
to determine the cause of the
blaze.
