REST HOME NEWS
and VIEWS
By
Lance J. Reed, Superintendent
A warm welcome is extended
to the following who have taken
up residency in our Home: Mrs.
Jennetta Finnigan and Mrs.
Ethel Sproat, both from Sea -
forth; Mrs, Jane Brown, from
St, Marys; Mrs. Isabella Kent,
from London; Joseph Wein,
from Crediton, and Frank Clark,
formerly of Crediton and re-
cently of Exeter.
,:
A sincere thank you is ex-
tended to the Main Street Unit-
ed Church Women for the
program they presented recent-
ly for our residents. The pro-
gram and refreshments were
enjoyed by all.
:r-
Everyday we read about
book -of -the -month clubs, record
clubs and many other kinds of
clubs. How would you like to
join a new one. Probably one
that has never been started be-
fore. Our Home could use
many lawn chairs :for our
spacious grounds. If you would
like to Puy a lawn chair for our
Home, send $3 and this will
buy one aluminum saran cov-
ered .lawn chair for our resi-
dents. In the past, the readers
have helped us out. will you not
help us now and be a member
of our Lawn Chair Club? I
will issue you a receipt which
you can use for income tax pur-
poses. Just think, it's not every-
body that can say they belong
to a lawn chair club.

Last week the regular month-
ly meeting of the Rest Horne
Ladies' Auxiliary was in the
form of a picnic for the auxil-
iary members and the residents.
Because of rain, the picnic had
to be held indoors, but however
all enjoyed the games that were
played and of course everybody
thought the picnic supper that
the auxiliary supplied was out
of this world, with so many dif-
ferent dishes of food. A thank
you to the Ladies' Auxiliary for
the work they are doing here.

Mrs. Elgin McKinley, who is
the worthy matron of the East-
ern Star in Exeter, held an
afternoon tea here at the Home.
A centennial theme prevailed
throughout the tea, with the
ladies being dressed in very
lovely centennial dresses. The
ladies supplied everything, the
Home let them use our facili-
ties. I had the privilege of
taking about 90 ladies on escort-
ed tours of the Home. This
was the first time many of the
ladies had been here, and all
seemed delighted with what
they saw. Mrs. McKinley don-
ated the proceeds from the tea

Earlier in this column I men-
tioned about lawn chairs. Re-
cently Norman Turnbull, of
Grand Bend area, made and
gave to us three wooden lawn
chairs. Tom Meyers, of Zurich,
also gave us two wooden lawn
chairs. Our thanks to both of
these gentlemen for this most
needed gift. Also thanks to Mr.
Meyers and dill McAdams for
coming out with their rato-
tiller and working up our cir-
culor flower bed out at the
front door. It certainly saved a
lot of hand digging.

like rain off and on through the
day, but good luck was on our
side and we were able to build
a fire outside and have a good

odd wiener that fell off the

it wouldn't be a real wiener

happened, We will be having
