Obituary
GEORGE SMALE
George Smale, 86, a well-
known citizen of ,Hensall for
,anany years, passed away in
South Huron Hospital, Exeter,
Friday, June 9.
Left to mourn his loss are
four sons, William, Howard
and Tom, Hensall; Alvin, Sea -
forth; three daughters, Pearl,
(Mrs. William Hooper), Grand
Bend; Irene (Mrs. Allan
Quance), Staff a; Bella (Mrs,
Clarence Farwell) Zurich; four
brothers, Frank, Seaforth; Neil,
Tower, Mich.; Henry and Ed, of
Saskatchewan, There are also
22 gorandchi�lciren and 24 great
grandchildren. Mrs. Sm a 1 e
passed away some years ago.
Public funeral serive, largely
attended, was held Monday,
June 12, at 2 p.m., from Bon-
thron funeral home, conducted
by Rev. H. F. Currie. Burial
was in McTaggart's Cemetery.
Bearers were Eric Smale, Don
Smale, Ronald and Mervyn
Stephan, Otto Smale and Gary
Quance, grandsons of the de-
ceased. Flower bearers, George
Farwell, Jack Stephan, Ken and
Leonard Smale, Bob and Jim
Smale, also grandsons.

STOFFER FABER
Public funeral service for the
late Stoffer Faber, of RR 1,
]Hensall, was .held from the Bon-
fhron funeral home, Monday,
June 12, at 3:30 p.m., conducted
by Rev. D. J. Scholten. Burial
was in .Hensall Union Cemetery.
Mr. Faber, who lived with
his son, Harry, following the
death of his wife nine years
ago, passed away in South Hur-
on Hospital, Exeter, Saturday,
in .his 86th year.
Surviving are four sons, Har-
ry, RR 1. Hensall; Rochus and
Egbert, RR. 3, Kippen; Cornel-
ious, RR 3, Exeter.. There are
also 10 grandchildren and 12
great grandchildren, and one
sister in Holland.
Bearers for the funeral were
Bert and John Branderhorst,
1&oss, Russel and Ken Faber,
and W. Broekstra.

Joe Flynn, who has been a
patient in St, Joseph's Hospital,
London, for the past 16 weeks
with .a fractured leg, came home
Friday of last week.
Mr. and. Mrs, A. C. Thomp-
son, Toronto, the former Marion
McKay, of Hensall, visited over
the past week -end with the tat-
ter's sister and brother-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. W, S. Shepherd,
and attended the 90th annivers-
ary of St. Paul's Anglican
Church Sunday evening.
Mrs. J. D. Reid, of London,
visited recently with Mr. and
Mrs. Stewart McQueen.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Simpson,
of Birmingham, Mich., visited
with Mrs. L. Simpson over the
week -end.
Mrs. Don Rigby and Mrs. Bill
Knights, of Blenheim, visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snell
over the week -end. Stewart and
Jane Knights returned home
with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Page and
David, Stoney Creek, visited
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Horton
over the week -end.
Parade Marks
Veteran's Week
Observing Veterans' Week,
June 11 to 17, Hensall branch
468 of the Canadian Legion,
Auxiliary, Oddfellows, Guides,
Brownies, Scouts and Cubs with
their leaders and headed by the
Exeter Legion Pipe Band held
a brief service at the Cenotaph
when Reeve Minnie Noakes
placed a wreath "In Memory"
Canada, followed with a service
at Hensall United Church.
Rev. Harold Currie addressed
the gathering. At the Cenotaph
after the church service, a sa-
lute to the colors was received
by president E. R. Davis, of
the Legion; president Mrs. Har-
old Campbell, for the Auxiliary,
and Reeve Minnie Noakes rep-
resenting the village.
Parade marshal was Wilmer
Dalrymple, color sergeant Jim
Taylor. The parade was one
of the finest in Hensall in
years.

Anniversary At
United Church
Anniversary services at :Hen-
sall United Church are on Sun-
day, June 18.
The 11 a.m, speaker is Rev.
Colin B. Grassie, BA, of Merlin.
Special choral work will be of-
fered by Hensall United Church
choir. Guest instrumentalist is
Mrs. Berne McKinley.
The 7:30 p.m. speaker sched-
uled is Rev. M. Shatto, BA, BD,
of Zurich Evangelical United
Brethren Church. The ministry
of music will be led by the
choir of the EUB Church of
Zurich. Centennial costume is
optional for evening service.

Auxiliary Plan
Fas'hion Show
Hensall Legion Auxiliary met
Tuesday evening for their June
meeting with president Mrs.
Harold C a m p b e 11 presiding.
Members were informed that
the recent penny sale was a
great success, and that the zone
rally will be held in Hensall,
in May, 1968.
Members of the Auxiliary
will participate in a Centennial
Fashion Show at Hensall, Sat-
urday, July 15.
Mrs. Howard Smale won the
mystery prize; Mrs. Grant Mc-
Clinchey the guessing prize,
and Mrs. Jack Simmons the at-
tendance prize. A pot -luck
lunch will be served when the
meetings are resumed in Sep-
tember.

Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Melville Tra
quair, Hensall, celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary this
week, Tuesday, June 13, at their
home. Open house in the af-
ternoon and evening saw over
100 relatives, friends and neigh-
bors stop to call and extend best
wishes to the celebrants,
Mrs. Traquair is the former
Edna Mitchell. She and her
husband were married by Rev.
Harold Knight at the home of
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
T. Mitchell, in Tuckersmith
Township. They were unat-
tended,
Fallowing their marriage, Mr.
and Mrs. Traquair farmed for
several years on the homestead
in Tuckersmith until moving to
another farm in that township.
The couple retired to Hensall
in November, 1966.
They have four sons, Jack, of
St. Thomas; Murray, on the
homestead in Tuckersmith; Ar-
thur, in Woodstock, and Bob
at Sarnia; ten grandchildren
- and one great-grandchild.
The tea table was spread with
a lace cloth and centred with
an anniversary cake and
gold chrysanthemums. Pouring
tea were Mrs. R. M. Peck, Hen-
sall, and Mrs. Albert Traquair,
Exeter. Mrs. Jarvis Horton and
Mrs. Stanley Mitchell invited to
the tea room.
The register was in charge
of Nancy Traquair, Nancy Jones
and Jim Traquair.
Messages of congratulations
were received from. Premier
John Roberts, Hon. John Dief-
enbaker, Hon. C. S. MacNaugh
ton and Robert McKinley, MP
for Huron. Mr. and Mrs. Tra-
quair also received a framed
certificate from the province
of Ontario,
On Sunday, June 11, a family
dinner was enjoyed at the Hotel
Hensall.
Mrs. Traquair's father, John
T. Mitchell, celebrated his 100th
birthday this past February at
Huronview where he now lives.

Anglican Church
Celebrates 90 th
The 90th anniversary of St.
Paul's Anglican Church, Hen-
salI, was well attended. The
Rev. H. A. Zeegmiller conduct-
ed the service Sunday evening
at 7 p.m. Rev. H. F. Currie,
of the United Church, read the
second lesson.
The Rev. T. M. B. Parker,
MA, DD, of Burford, a former
minister, was guest speaker.
Miss Jean Henderson was
soloist, singing for her selec-
tion, "Be Thou High". The
choir, under direction of Mrs.
F. Forrest, sang an anthem,
with soloists being Miss Brenda
Lavender and Miss Sylvia Hen-
derson.
Following the service a social
hour was held in the church
basement. Former ministers
and members were present from
Windsor, Delaware, L o n d o n,
Woodstock, Kincardine, Toron-
to, Seaforth, Woodham and
Cromarty.
