Farmers in this area have
completed their grain seeding

date to take a chance on the
returns they will receive. From
now on they will have to trust
to nature for favorable weather
for speedy growth. All that
EXPO '67 Heralded as the best
world's fair in some years, Expo '67
in Montreal is attracting huge crowds
of applauding fairgoers who are en-
chanted by the magnificence of it all
—or seem to be, according to most
reports. These shots were taken at
the Expo site just two short weeks
before the big show opened. At the
top, we see a general view of one of
the many streets and waterways at
Expo. Next is a photo of the United
States pavilion which is a masterpiece
of architecture on the outside but
somewhat of a disappointment on the
inside, according to persons who have
toured the premises. The third pic-
ture shows another one of the many
pavilions as it looked while under con-
struction. Note the balconies from
which visitors are now seeing "a
world at their feet", so to speak.

Mr. John Charles Daly, the
What's My Line host who was
one of the mystery guests on
CBC's Front Page Challenge
last week, defended television's
overall programming, discussed
pollution, and briefly talked
about the disappearance of his
well-known Sunday evening
show from the CBS schedule
next season.
He felt the popular panel
show was leaving because of
age, plus the fact that networks
are scheduling more 60 -minute,
90 -minute and even two-hour
programs, instead of half-hour
slots.
At present CBS has Mission:
Impossible scheduled in the
Sunday 10 to 11 p.m. period.
It will be interesting to see
what the ratings are like from
10:30 to 11:00 on Sunday eve-
ning. We'll bet they go down.
This week let's take a look
at the comparative network
schedule far Wednesdays this
fall:
At 7:30 ABC will run Custer;
CBS will play Lost in Space;
NBC will go with The Virgin-
ian; CTV will run The Invaders,
while CBC will play Mother -in -
Law.
At 8:30 ABC will play The
Second Hundred Years; CBS
will go with The Beverley Hill-
billies; CTV will run Hockey,
or a motion picture, and CBC
will play Mission: Impossible.
At 9:00 ABC will run a movie;
CBS will have Green Acres, and
NBC will play Kraft Music Hall.
At 10 o'clock ABC will still
be playing their movie; CBS
will have a News Hour, and
NBC will play Run For Your
Life. CBC will run festival
starting at 9:30, and CTV will
go with The Sports Hot Seat
at 10:30.
could well mean disappointment
to the farmers due to a dry
spell in the near future. Waren
rains are necessary to soften
some of their land which was
worked when the land was wet
due to a wet spring which had
caused the land to bake. Due
to late seeding farmers can not
expect an average crop unless
something in nature overcomes
the expectation in this year of
1967. Farmers are facing prob-
lems which may mean for some,
hardships, for today for the
farmers the high cost of equip-
ment and farm machinery and
help, a half crop would mean
for some hard to carry on, in
fact, all farmers will feel the
pinch of it. Naturally they will
have to tighten up on their
spending.
The economy of our country
depends on the fruit of our
land. Projects which had been
tabled for a go-ahead would
have to be shelved for some
time, There are other troubles
brewing up the march to Ot-
tawa for better understandings
by the authority and the farm-
ers and for the latter to re-
ceive a more rewarding return
for their farm labors. This
march to Ottawa will perhaps
include x41 farm industries, the
dairy, mixed farming and gard-
eners all will fall in line their
request for better prices, Here
and there you will meet with
farmers who are not in accord
with such movements, they pre-
fer to follow the footsteps of
their forefathers rather than, as
they say, that such advance-
ments may fail and they would
not receive their demands.
