GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERS-
ARY—Mr. and Mrs. Victor Deichert,
Zurich, celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary last week -end at a family
dinner on Friday evening and open
house for their friends and relatives
Sunday. Mrs. Deichert is the former
Josephine Kalbfleisch, daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kalbfleisch,
Hay Township. Mr. and Mrs. Peter
Deichert, Sr., Blind Line, were the
parents of Mr. Deichert.
Popular Zurich Couple Honored By
Many on 50th Wedding Anniversary
To nark the 50th wedding
::r.r versary of Mr. and Mrs,
Victor Deiehert, a dinner was
held at the Dominion Hotel,
Zurich, on Friday evening, May
19. with their family and broth-
ers and sister attending.
Mr. and Mrs. Deichert were
married on Wednesday, May
16; 1917, at 4 p.m., by the Rev.
Mr. H. Rembe of St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, Zurich. The
bride is the former Josephine
Kalbfleisch, second daughter of
the late Mr. and and Mrs. Louis
Kalbfleisch, 14th concession of
Hay Township, and the groom
is the second son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Deiehert,
Sr., Blind Line, Hay Township.
The wedding took place at the
home of the bride.
Mrs. Elmore Datars, Dash-
wood. formerly Laura Schu-
macher, cousin of the bride,
and George Deichert, Zurich,
brother of the groom, were the
attendants.
After their marriage, Mr. and
Mrs. Deiehert made their home
on the Blind Line, Hay Town-
ship, until 1935 when they
moved to 2nd concession, Tuck-
ersmith and in 1936, to Staffa.

A warm welcome is extended
to two new residents, Mrs. Jean
Kyle, of Clinton, and Mrs. Gen
truck Powell, of Exeter. It is
hoped that they will enjoy their
stay with us,
A sincere thanks is extended
to all who have so graciously
given us rhubarb and some
roots to plant, We are very
pleased to receive this and
should any others have rhubarb
we would be pleased to pick it
and put it in our freezer.

daughters and three sons: Mrs.
Harvey (Edith) Hohner, Zurich;
Mrs. Clifford (Laura) Pepper,
Dashwood; Mrs. Edgar (Doro-
thy) Elligsen, Walton; Mar-
garet, Kit c he n e r; Earl and
Claire, Zurich; Edward, Trent-
on; and 14 grandchildren and
two great grandchildren.
The couple received lovely
gifts and numerous congratula-
tory messages from Prime Min-
ister L. B. Pearson; Mr. John
Diefenbaker, leader of the op-
position; Bob McKinley, MP,
and A. Y. McLean. Mr. and
Mrs. Ted Deichert, Toronto,
brother of the groom, who were
unable to attend, sent their
congratulations as well.
Open house was held at their
home on Sunday when they re-
ceived their neighbors, friends
and relatives.
Pouring tea in the afternoon
were Mrs. Fred Haberer, Sr.,
Mrs. Alfred Pfaff and Mrs. Ed
Keller. In the evening, Mrs.
Bert Klopp, Mrs. Wilfred. Eich-
ler and Mrs. Whitney Broken -
shire poured. All are sisters
of the bride and groom.
Serving were grand -daughters
Mrs. Earl Miller, Misses Doris,
Ruth Anne and Joan Pepper,
and Joanne and Margaret Ellig-
sen. Elizabeth Deichert was in
charge of the guest book.
The honored couple were as-
sisted in receiving guests by the
bridesmaid and best man of
50 years ago.

We are 'happy to welcome
Miss Pearl Ann Erb to our kit-
chen staff, and Mrs. Elizabeth
Wright as a relief registered
nurse.
Webb Landscaping, of Grand
Bend, were most kind in work-
ing up our garden for us. A
donation of fertilizer was grate-
fully received from Henry
Becker, of Dashwood.
The monthly birthday party
was held recently to honor the
residents having birthdays dur-
ing May. The guests of honor
were Mrs. Hazel McFarlane and
Mrs. Ethel Appleton. Mrs. Ger-
ald Gingerich and Mrs. William
Baechler were responsible for
the program and refreshments.
For people passing the Home
on Monday last, which was the
holiday, I hope they did not
think that we had been evicted.
We brought tables outside and
ate our noon meal there. In
the sunshine it was delightful
and many residents expressed
MRS. MARY STUDER
A former resident of Hay
Township, Mrs. Mary Anne
(Mollie) Studer, passed away at
her home in Detroit on May
10, 1967. She was the eldest
daughter of the late Henry and
Mary Anne Koehler.
Born October 24, 1874, she is
survived by two sons, Harold
and Earl; one daughter, Mrs.
James (Evelyn) Minaudo, and
one sister, Mrs. Melvina John-
ston.
The funeral was held Friday,
May 12, from L. J. Griffin
funeral home, Detroit.

Now on a personal note, most
of the readers know that I am
the organist and choir director
at North Street United Church
in. Goderieh. Last Sunday the
congregation of North Street
had a special treat when the
Zurich Mennonite Youth Fel-
lowship choir, under the direc-
tion of Paul Steckle, lead in the
music for the morning service.
This group did an excellent job
and Zurich and area can be
very proud to have such a won-
derful singing group.

The residents and staff of the
Hoene extend deepest sympathy
to resident Mrs. Elizabeth
Carnie in the death of her son
Bertram who was killed recent-
ly in an automobile accident.

Victoria Jean Masse and Vin-
cent Paul Roth exchanged mar-
riage vows in St. Boniface
Church, Zurich, on Saturday,
May 20, 1967, at 2 p.m.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Elzer Masse, RR
3, Zurich, and the groom's par-
ents are Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Roth, London.
Rev. Father Page performed
the double 'ring ceremony.
Given in marriage by her fa-
ther, the bride's floor -length
gown was styled with a lace
bodice, appliqued skirt and a
detachable appliqued train. Her
elbow -length veil was held in
place by a tiara of pearls and
crystals. She carried a bouquet
of red roses, white stephanotis
and ivy.
Phyllis Masse was maid of
honor and Mary Roth and Caro-
lyn Smith were bridesmaids.
They wore identical shrimp
floor -length gowns styled with
an empire waist and a chiffon
train and carried bouquets of
sprayed. mums.
David Roth was groomsman
and Tom Downs and Gerard
Masse ushered guests.
The reception was held in the
Dashwood Community Centre.
The bride's mother wore a
baby blue three-piece suit and
a .corsage of sprayed mums, and
the groom's mother chose a
pink sheath dress and a corsage
of sprayed mums.
For travelling the b rid e
changed to a aqua bocule suit
and black accessories.
The couple will reside in
London.
