Planning Bus Trip �p Amber Rebekah Lodge held their regular meeting Wednes- day, May 17, presided over by noble grand Mrs. Lindsay Eyre. Final plans for representative Mrs. J. F. Ingram and scholar Mrs. Leona Clifton to attend the Rebekah Assembly session at Toronto June 12 to 14, were made, Past grands of the district are planning a bus trip to the IOOF and Rebekah home at Barrie on Saturday, June 3, to attend the dedication of 'their new chapel. Second nomina- tion was held. a Hensall Centennial Plans CaII. For Big Western Show The Centennial meeting was held in the Town Valli Wednes- day evening, chaired by Harold Knight. Hensall's history, in booklet form, was displayed. These in- teresting books are being sold by the Hensall Women's In- stitute. Western hats to promote Frontier Days on July 14 and 15 are being sold by the Cen- tennial committee. • These are available in both adult and chil- dren's sizes. A parade, a penny carnival are being planned for the chil- dren on the same date. A fash- ion and amateur show, and car bash, are also planned in addi- tion to the western horse show on Saturday. MAUDE REDDEN, Editor Mrs. Fred Brock left by plane Monday for Tampa, Florida, to attend the funeral of her sister, Miss Margaret Barr. Mrs. Brock expects to be away four weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cald- well, Mr. and 'Mrs, John Baker and Mr. and Mrs. William Fuss attended the district convention of Kinsmen in Kitehener-Water- loo over the week -end. Dr. William. T. Joynt, of Lon- don, spent the week -end holiday with his mother, Mrs. Alice Joynt. Graduates R. Jerry Drysdale, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J, Drysdale, Hensall, graduated with first- class honors in Forestry, from the " University of New Bruns- wick, Fredericton, an May 16, He was the recipient of the Ca- nadian Institute of Feresty gold medals, awarded to the out- standing member of the grad- uating class. The SHDHS grad- uate has accepted a position with the forest protection branch of the Ontario Depart- ment of Lands and Forests in Henoril. Elect Officers At a meeting of Mensal]. Mr. and Mrs. K l a as Van Wieren arrived by boat from Holland last Thursday to spend the summer months with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry VanWieren, and family, RR 2, Hensall. They expect to remain until Septem, ber. Hensall firemen were called out four times over the week- end to extinguish minor fires, at the residences of Mr. and Mrs, Harold Elder, RR 2, Hen- sall; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cald- well, King Street, Hensall; a shed at the rear of Hotel Hen - salt, and a fire in McEwen's bush. Not much damage re- ported. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Lindsay and family, of Hamilton, spent the 'holiday week -end in St. Marys and Hensall. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Smith visited over the week -end holi- day with members of their fam- ily at Thedford. Fractured Knee Billy Clement, 11, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Clement, had tie misfortune to fracture his knee cap in an accident Satur- day morning. He is a patient at St. Joseph's Hospital, Lon- don, where his knee was placed in a cast. Mr. and Mrs. Don Rigby, of I3lenheim, spent the week -end holiday with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snell. Harold Redden and son Jinn, of Dresden, visited last week with his brother, Herb Hedden. Harold was recently elected president of Branch 113 of the Kippen East Group Plan Events For Coming Season Kippen East Women's Insti- tute held its regular May meet- ing in the Legion Hall, Ilensall, Thursday, May 18, with Mrs, Lloyd Cooper and Mrs, Edna Caldwell as hustesses. Presi- dent Mrs, Grant MacLean open- ed the meeting by reading "The Farmer's Wife's Birthday". All members answerers the roll call with "an easy Sunday dinner". It was decided to buy a box of Centennial spoons to have on hand, to have a Christ- mas cake draw, and to have a bus trip with Mrs. Dave Trieb- ner and Mrs. Mike Connelly to make the arrangements. Mrs. Dave Triebner and Mrs. Royal Canadian Legion at Dres- den. Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Drysdale and Mrs. Ella Drysdale attended the graduation of R. Jerry Drys- dale, who graduated from the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, May 16, with first- class honors in Forestry. They made the trip by motor. Mrs. Ernie Whitehouse present- ers Marion Roberts with a gift on behalf of the Institute since Marion has received 'her pro-, vindial honors in the 4-1I Club work. The 4-13 girls presented their skit, "The Cosmopolitan Cab- bage" in the form of "To Tell the Truth" program. Mrs. Grant MacLean read the motto which had been prepared by Miss Mar- garet McKay, "It is little waste that fills garbage cans". A couple of sing -songs were enjoyed. The history of On- tario was given by Mrs. Glenn Bell. "It's your move" program followed which created quite a stir among the contestants. Mrs. Charles Eyre gave courtesy re- marks. McA A'r..'
