Plan Basketball
Again Next Year
(By Jerry Rader, President
of Zurich Basketball League)
Basketball has now come to
its end for the first season and
it was a great success. The
players and officials participat-
ed very well and because of
this we will be having a league
next year along with a junior
league, which. Kevin and I are
working on now.
We hope this sport will cre-
ate an interest in the parents
as it did in the players. This
year we were a bit late in get-
ting the league started, but
hope to begin ndxt season in
November.
I would like to thank Louis
Schilbe, Wayne Clausius and
any others who helped officiate
the games, along with the Zur-
ich Minor Athletic Association
for sponsoring us. Rich Turk -
helm was treasurer for the
league and did a swell job for
us. Kevin McKinnon also did a
great deal of work being sec-
retary. Without the help of
these fellows it would not have
been such a success. Richard
has reported that there is
$22.18 in the treasury. We
have not yet had a vote on what
to do with the money.
I hope the players all have
had fun playing basketball and
we hope to improve the league
next season. Congratulations
goes out to the champions of
the girls' and boys' leagues.
We will be telling you more
about next year's two leagues
later on.
