day evening. This marked the
25th birthday of the LWML In-
ters,ational. Mrs, 11. .1. Neeb,
of Kitchener, the first district
-pre` dent, reviewed the last 25
years. A birthday cake marked
the occasion and the original
officers, Mrs. Neeb, president;
Mrs George Yundt, Stratford,
seer etar•y, and Mrs. Milford
Merner. Dashwood, treasurer,
cut the eake. During election
of officers Mrs. Albert Miller
was elected project chairman.
Miss Lori Anne Booyemans,
small daughter of 'Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Boo einans, is a patient in
South Iluron hospital, Exeter.

English services will be held
in the Evangelical Church, 14th
Concession, every first Sunday
in the month,
Cook Bros., Hensel', received
nine carloads of Ford cars dur-
ing the past week and these 27
cars have been sold for imme-
diate delivery.
The price of shoe leather will

Roehrig will be pleased that

saw mill, the horses started and
he was thrown heavily on his

An auction sale of a carload
of choice heavy horses will be
held at Voison's Hotel on Thurs-
day afternoon this week.

where they will make their
home after spending a few days
at the home of the bride's par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Kyle, Parr Line, Hay Township.

their hens shut in, :as most of
the gardens are being planted
out now and the neighbors'

MAY, 1942
At a specially called meeting
in St, Peter's Lutheran Church
on Sunday last, it was decided
that a room at Waterloo Semin-
ary be furnished at the expense
of the congregation in memory
of the late Rev. Ernest Turk -
helm, their late pastor.
What was considered a rec-
ord breaking week of warm
weather for the time of year
ended on Sunday night after
the thunderstorms and rains
that passed over this section.
Victor Dinnin was guest
speaker at the Women's Insti-
tute meeting in Zurich last
week,
Lorne Kleinstiver, of Bow-
manville, who has been on the
sick list, is spending a few
weeks at his home in Dashwood.
Since May 1 it has been il-
legal to drive a car anywhere
in Canada at more than 40
miles per hour unless you're an
army, navy or air force man on
official business. Work crews
have .already changed the old
50 mile per hour signs. Police
couldn't give you a break if
they wanted to.
Help Win the War ... tooth-
paste and shaving cream tubes
are urgently needed. They are
made of tin and will be melted
down and used for war pur-
poses.

What a confusion there real-
ly was on Sunday with church
bells ringing out of time .
people going to church when
others were returning. Of the
four churches in town, two
were on Standard Time, while
the other two observed the
powers that be and one going
to bed Saturday night turned

Miss Elizabeth Alice (Betty)
O'Brien, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Lloyd O'Brien is one of
the first girls to join the Cana-
dian Navy in this community
in recent years. She will train
at HMSC Cornwallis,
Racing at the Huron Auto
Racing Club's track near Dash-
wood will begin May 9, the club
announced recently. It is plan-
ned to hold a meet every Fri-
day night. Workmen are now
getting the oval in shape. The
meeting was held at the home
of Earl Ratz, Stephen.
Beginning May 3 there will
be roller skating in the Zurich
Community Hall. Wooden roll-
ers only.
