The G oder i c h Centennial
committee has asked Hensall to
provide a float depicting life
in Canada from 1947 to 1957
for the July 1 celebration in
Goderich. Village council was
also asked to select a contest-
ant to compete for a Huron
County beauty queen title at

Works Report
E. R. Davis reported to coun-
cil on snow removal, the break-
down of the tractor, difficulties
at the dump, the necessity of
a new culvert and a problem
of dust from the Co-op during
seed cleaning time which settles
on the house and property of
Grant Bisback.
He also explained some storm
sewers were not large enough
to handle the increased amount
of water these spring days. He
stated that water is coming up
from the catch basin near Lloyd
Venner's home rather than go-
ing down into it.
Council discussed at some
length the advisability of keep-
ing the present tractor for mow-
ing grass and weeds and buy-
ing a new and heavier tractor
for other work. No decision
was reached on this matter.
However, council did agree to
grant E. R. Davis a car allow-
ance of $300 annually. Mr.
Davis, who will be in hospital
for two weeks this spring, will
be temporarily replaced by
John Jarrott.
Other business included Hen -
sail's share of the yearly levy
to be paid to the Aux Sauble
Conservation as $1057.65 and a
further levy of $91.82 to be
paid toward expenses on the
Parkhill dam; notice that all
arrears of 1966 taxes, amount-
ing to about $1000, be sent in
for collection; report that Reeve
Minnie Noakes will attend the
convention for mayors and
reeves in Niagara Falls front
May 14.17; and that Daylight
Saving Time will be effective
in Hensall from April 29 at
12:01 a.m. to ,October 28 at
12 p.m,
Applications for building per-
mits from Melvin Traquair, Mrs,
McAllister and John Link to
renovate, and from the Co-op
to build scales and tanks were
approved by council before ad-
journment.
