Exeter Couple Married 50 Years Ago
Mr. and Mrs. William Fergu-
son, Exeter, celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary Tues-
day, -March 14, with a family
dinner at the Dominion Hotel,
Zurich, and were the recipients
fof many lovely gifts from their
family, relatives, grandchildren
and great grandchildren.
The couple held "open house"
at their home Saturday after-
noon and evening when 250
guests registered. Decorations
were in white and gold motif..
Mrs. Ferguson is the former
Rosenna Bruce, of Blanchard
Township and their marriage
was solemnized in the parson -
rage at Kirkton by Rev. H. S.
O'Kell. There were no attend-
ance. Following their marriage
they farmed near Varna for
three years, then to Usborne
'Towns'hip where they resided
until moving to Exeter nine
years ago.
Both are im their 74th year,
they enjoy good hearth and are
interested in the current events
•of the day.
Their union was blessed with
three sons, Norman and Roy,
Exeter; Wilmer, Hensall; one
daughter, Mrs. Oliver Jaques,
Hensall. There are 15 grand-
children and five great grand-
children.
The celebrants were show-
ered with gifts, flowers and
congratulatory messages, in -
eluding one from Hon. C. S.
MacNaughton and a scroll from
Premier John Robarts.

Hensall Kinettes
Aid in Campaign
Mrs. William. Fuss was host-
ess at her home Wednesday
evening for the meeting of the
Hensall Kinette Club, when a
letter of appreciation and
thanks was read from the March
of Dimes for the club's con-
tribution of $217.63.
The meeting took the form
of an annual "beef night" Sev-
eral `thank you' notes were
read from shut-ins for plants
received. An invitation was ac-
cepted from Exeter Kinettes to
attend their 15th anniversary
on March 27.
For their next meeting the
group, in conjunction with the
Kinsmen Club, will go to Goder-
ich to entertain patients at the
Ontario Hospital there .
Mrs. Carol Chettleburg was
presented with her pin and by-
laws by Kinette Mrs. Jack Drys-
dale, and was welcomed into
the group by president Mrs.
Jim Hyde.
A film on cystic fibrosis, en-
titled "Song of the Night Lark",
was shown.
The raffle was won by Mrs.
Fuss.

Miss Helen Boyle and Miihon
Boyle, of Toronto, spent the
week -end with their cousins,
Mr. and Mrs. Laird Miekle.
Mrs, Louise Simpson, who has
spent the winter months with
members of her family in Birm-
ingham, Mich., has returned
home, accompanied by her son
and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Simpson, who spent
the weekend There.
Hensall Kinsmen are planning
their St. Patrick's celebration
in the Irish settlement of Lu -
can, at the Shillelagh Motel.
This dance, which !is to be the
Shamrock Ball, should give all
Irishmen in the area :a chance
to celebrate.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fink, Mr.
and Mrs. R. J. Drysdale and
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. F. Bell
expect to leave Sunday for
Hawaii, together with a group
of Shriners from the province.
Sim Roobol, who has been a
patient in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, has returned home.
Herb Hedden is a patient in
South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Mrs. Alda :Simmons is a pa-
tient in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter.
In a centennial draw at Hen-
sall. Friday night ,a $50 sweater
was won by Robert Lyons, RR
1, Lucknow, reeve of West
Wawanosh; second prize, a bath
set, was won by J. P. Alexander,
deputy -reeve of Wingham. Tick-
ets were sold by reeve Minnie
Noakes. The sweater was knit
and donated by Reeve Noakes,
and the bath set by Mrs, Leona
Parke.
Mrs. Florence Joynt is a pa-
tient in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter.
Legion Auxiliary
Makes Donations
The March meeting of Hen -
sal Legion Ladies' Auxiliary
was held Tuesday with presi-
dent Mrs. Harold Campbell pre-
siding. Ten dollars was don-
ated to the Easter Seal cam-
paign, and $25 to the Bursary
Fund.
The group will coter to an
anniversary supper, April 1, and
will canvass for the Red Cross
this month. They will cater
for a bonspiel Saturday, March
18.
The draw for the Easter bas-
ket will be held Saturday,
March 25.
Seven members, Mrs. E. Davis,
Mrs. Clarence Reid, Mrs. Wil-
liam Smale, Mrs, Mary Taylor,
Mrs. Harry Horton, Mrs. Ro-
land Vanstone' and Mrs. Grant
McClinchey entertained veter-
ans at Westminster Hospital
Wednesday night, in conjunction
with Exeter Ladies' Auxiliary.
Mrs. E. :Davis won the mys-
tery prize. Bingo and lunch
completed the evening,

CENTENNIAL MEETING
At the Centennial meeting
held Wednesday night in the
Town Hall, the date was set for
July 14-15, to have Hensall's
Centennial celebrations.
The combined church serv-
ices are planned for a later
date.
Chairman Harold Knight pre-
sided for the meeting.

Meeting Discusses
Home Economics
Home economics and health
meeting of Hensall WI was held
Wednesday night, March 8, in
the Legion. Hall, with 46 mem-
bers and guests present. The
group was welcomed by the
president, Mrs. Beverly Beaton,
who chaired the meeting,
Donations were made to the
Hensall branch of the Legion,
and to the two 4-H clubs of
Hensall. Mrs. John Corbett,
Mrs. Mary Funk and Mrs. Wil-
bert Dilling were ,appointed
nominating committee to bring
in the new slate of officers.
Mrs. Wesley Richardson took
over for the program when Mrs.
R, M. Peck and Mrs. Harry Cald-
well, leaders of one Hensall
4-H club, outlined their pro-
jects, "A world of food in Can-
ada". Catherine McEwen and
Mary Mock demonstrated the
making of blueberry buckle
served as a dessert at lunch
hour.
Mrs. Ian McAllister, who was
to have been guest speaker but
was unable to attend, sent sam-
ples of Swedish, bread, rolls and
coffee cakes. Miss M. Ellis
gave a delightful reading, "The
Rummage Sale" Mrs. Don
Travers brought greetings from
their club. Hrs. Robert Elgie
gave courtesy remarks.
In response to the roll call,
articles made, sewn or grown
brought in were auctioned by
Mrs. James McAllister and $12
was realized.
Program convenors were Mrs.
Walker Carlile and Mrs. Rich-
ardson; hostesses, Mrs. George
Armstrong and Mrs. V. M.
Pyette.

ers
omemakers held their fifth meeting at
Mrs. Travers' home en March
6. Miss Sharon Caroll, home
economist, visited and demon-
strated pizza, which was very
tasty.
Cathy Fuss and Catherine
Christie made salata salad,
which was also delicious.
The sixth meeting on March
13 saw Mr. and Mrs, Paul
Neilands demonstrated cabbage
rolls and Mrs. Munn made rhu-
barb soup.
