Draw for groceries was won by Mrs. Robert Parsons, Crom- arty; chocolates, Mrs. Ed Munn, Hensall. In a draw for an $85 suit of clothes, •the winner was P. L. McNaughton, Hensall. This was a project of the IOOF. Ticket was drawn by Linda Bell. It was announced that a shower of cards be sent to Mrs. Edna Corbett, a patient at South Huron Hospital and a member of the Lodge. Discussion took place regard- ing .a float for •a centennial pro- ject, and it was decided to go along with the .Oddfellows if they would help in the project. Fina 1 arrangements were made for the dessert euchre, afternoon and evening, March 29, with committees in •charge to look after :arrangements. A gift was presented to Mrs. Earl Titterington, a valued member, who is leaving the community for South Burnaby, B.C. Mrs. Leona Parke made the presentation. It has been requested by the district deputy president, Miss Jean 'Scott, .Seaforth, that the charter be draped in memory of an assembly officer. The draping of the charter is to take place at Exeter Lodge on the visit of the assembly officer, Mrs. Taylor, from Kingston, on March 15. This is. an annual event of the club, Mrs. Stewart Bell, Pauline and Troyann were guests of Mr, and Mrs, Tom Bell and Jane, St. Thomas, over the week -end. Pauline and Troyann took part. in the annual winter carnival. Martha and Shirley Roose- boom and Shirley Smale col- lected $10 which they forward- ed to the Bunny Bundle for Crippled Children. Miss A. Consitt is a patient in Clinton Public Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Love left Sunday by car to spend a vacation in Florida. Miss Sylvia Henderson left Monday by jet from Interna- tional Airport, Toronto, for a two weeks' vacation in London, England. She left at 8:30 p.rn,, arriving in London, England, at 9 -a.m. Sylvia, who •is on the staff of the Bank of Montreal here, will also visit many other places of interest. • Hensall Kinsmen are now selling clean shaven permits. This gives Hensall men :a chance to take part in the Centennial celebrations. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Bartlett, of Themesford; Mrs. Jim Barber and Cathy, London, and Mrs. Harry Snell spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Mc- Queen celebrating Mr. Mc - Queen's 85th birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Terry North and Teresa, St. Thomas, were week- end guests with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart McQueen and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snell. Mr. and Mrs. William Fuss and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hyde leave this week -end by car for Florida where they will holi- day for two weeks. Unit 4 of United Church Women Hear Report of Various Activities Planned The UCW unit four of Hen - sail United Church meeting was held in Fellowship Hall Thurs- day afternoon, March 2. Mrs, Robert Boyce presented the study from "The Church and the World" on the chapter "faith fans out into the world", telling how Paul carried through. Mrs. Gordon Love gave the devotional reading from Mat- thew 26, and ,a meditation "In defence of Easterfulness". Two lovely poems in Braille were given by Miss Amy Lam- mie, entitled, "I know some- thing good about you" and "Let us be kind". Mrs. James McAllister chair- ed the meeting throughout, and reported on the recent quilting project. Seven bale quilts have beencompleted and more are to be done at a later date. Mrs. McAllister read a report from Mrs. R. J. Drysdale, convenor of friendship and visitation, which revealed a wonderful con- tribution towards the work of the church. Mrs, McAllistter reported on the recent Presbyterial held in Wingham on Tuesday, February 21. Seven members from Hen- sall joined the throng, going by chartered bus. This Presby- terial is reported as being the best ever, Mrs. McAllister reported on the turkey dinner which this unit catered to, on Wednesday, February 22, for Brownies, Guides and their mothers. Robert McKinley, MP, showed slides of his trip through the Northwest Territories which he took last summer. Mrs, H. Buckler, who has been a patient in Clinton Public Hos- pital, has returned to her home, The March meeting of the United Church Women will be held on Thursday evening of this week, The sympathy of this coin- munity goes out to the Taylor families in their recent bereave- ment.
