"In the hands of Christian
women is a power to change
the world", was the challenge
issued by Rev. Gordon Hunter,
Toronto, to 300 United Church
Women in attendance at the
fifth annual meeting of the
Huron Presbyterial in Wingham
United Church, last Tuesday.
"Set out to do the work of
the ehureh which is to take the
exoss of Jesus into the street,
hone, business and wherever
:men are," he said, "but first
we must have a real experience
Id Christ in the heart. Listen
to people and really hear and
respond."
"We must come to the place
where we eare—where we take
an interest in some one and
that interest must go beyond
the church into the world," Rev.
Renter admonished. "We must
care about Vietnam, India and
-Korea. We cannot stop giving
and caring."

presented in Centennial cos-
tume showing the parts played
by the ndiens, fur traders, set-
tlers, saddle -bag p,r e a c hers
priests, early ladies' meetings
in the home and the meeting
held in Centennary Methodist
Church, Hamilton, at the time
of the annual conference which
had just approved the formation
of the Women's Missionary
Society.

by Mrs. W. B. Cruickshank,
Wingham; from Huron Presby-
tery by Rev. A. Higginbotham,
Walton; from the Anglican
Church by Mrs. W. R. Middle-
ton, Exeter; from the Evangel-
ical United Brethren congrega-
tions by Mrs. Charles Snell,
Dashwood, and from Wingham
UCW by Mrs. J. Reavie.
President Mrs. Gilbert Bee-
croft asked each UCW to see
that a history of its church is
written and sent to the archives
before May 1.
Treasurer Mrs. S. E. Lewis
reported the 1966 allocation was
exceeded by 3-2 per cent.
Closing worship was taken by
Mrs. H. Murray, Exeter, and
Miss Esther Hume, Goderich.
The 1968 Presbyterial will be
in North Street United Church,
Goderich.

CINDY AND HER GIFT — Cindy
Bisback would like everyone to have
a chance to win this big basket of
groceries which is to be raffled by the
Hensall Legion Ladies' Auxiliary on
behalf of the Crippled Children fund
raising campaign. Seen here with
Cindy is Mrs. Garnet Allan, vice-
president of the Auxiliary. The Hen-
sall group has chosen this project to
salute Cindy and other crippled chil-
dren in the area who are receiving
treatment through the Society. Cindy
knows how important the work is
that is being done in treatment cen-
tres throughout Ontario, so she is
lending a hand this year to help raise
more money than ever before for
Crippled Children.
About People
The home economics and
health meeting of Hensall WI
will be held Wednesday, March
8, in the Legion Hall, at 8:15
p.m., when guest speaker will
be Mrs. Tan McAllister. In re-
sponse to the roll call members
are asked to bring something
they have made, sewn or grown,
which will be auctioned.
Mrs. Chester Lee is a patient
in Victoria Hospital, London,
where she is undergoing eye
surgery.
Mr. and Mrs, Laird Mickle
returned home last Friday after
a week holidaying in Hamilton,
Toronto and Detroit. While in
Hamilton they attended the

concert presented by the West -
dale Secondary School ehoir,
concert band and drama club,
They also saw the hockey game
in Toronto between the Toron-
to Maple Leafs and Boston
Bruins, and the game in Detroit
between the Maple Leafs and
Detroit Red Wings.
James Bengough is a patient
in Clinton Public Hospital.
Unit 4 UCW will meet Thurs-
day afternoon, March 2, at 2:30
pen. The program has been
planned by Mrs. Robert Boyce,
who will present the study, Mrs.
Asa Deeves, Mrs. J. Ferguson
and Mrs. Gordon Love.
The sacrament of the Lord's
Supper will be observed next
Sunday evening, Mareh 5, at
the United Church.
