Flan Activities
On Thursday evening, Feb-
ruary 16, the United Church
Women of Goshen United
Church met at the home of Mrs.
Bob Peck. Mrs. George Simons
conducted the meeting.
Mrs. Bruce Keys led a panel
discussion on, "Church where
the Action Is". On the panel
were Mrs. Arnold Keys, Mrs,
Russell Erratt, Mrs. George
Simons and Mrs. Clare Mc-
Bride. This was followed by a
discussion by the rest of the
members.
Miss Cheryl Peck played a
piano instrumental. There were
16 answered the roll call and
three visitors present. A `thank
you' card was received from
Mrs. Mary Manson, and a card
and a five -dollar bill from Mrs.
Jean McKinley,
Mrs. Bob Peck and Mrs. Bruce
Keys were named as delegates
to the Presbyterial in Wingham
on February 21. A bus leaves
Brueefield at 8.30 a.m, for any-
one wishing to go.
Various ways were discussed.

the year. A smorgasbord is to
be held at the end of Maroh.

Mrs. Melvin Elliott and group

FEBRUARY, 1917
J. J. Merner, MP, has returned
from Ottawa where the Domin-
ion Parliament was in session.
At the opening of the Ontario
Parliament on Tuesday, it was
announced that a grant of
$1,000,000 would be made to
the Canadian Patriotic Fund.
It is reported that Zurich will
have a fox farm in the near
future.
A daily telegraph news serv-
ice has been arranged for Zur-
ich and the latest important
war news is received every fore-
noon at T. L. Wurm's store
where they are posted up.
J. J. Merner has sold his 60 -
acre farm on the 15th of Hay
to William Miller, who gets pos-
session at once. Isiah Witmer
has purchased the 100 -acre farm
of John Wein, being lot 3, con.
11 of Hay . The consideration
is $7,000 and possession will be
given on March 15 next.
The workers of the Dashwood
Red Cross Society made a big
shipment of supplies on Thurs-
day. The lot consisted of 32
pillow cases, 30 towels, 18
sheets, 18 helpless shirts, 12
pyjama suits, 10 day shirts and
30 pair of socks.

and family visited at the homes
of their parents in Zurich and
Wingham over the week -end.
Mrs. Anne Turkheim spent
the past week in Toronto with
members of her family.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Rodgers,
Windsor, were week -end visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gascho.
Mrs. Gascho returned with them
to spend a week.
Peter Denomme, Ken Mittle-
holtz, Louis and Wayne Willert
are enjoying a vacation in the
sunny south.

WARBLE FLY CONTROL
Township of Stanley
APPLICATIONS will be received by the Township of
Stanley for the position of WARBLE FLY INSPECTOR
for the year 1967. Inspector must be familiar with
the Warble Fly Act and must keep an accurate record
of cattle sprayed. Salary will be $1.50 per hour and
8 cents per mile for mileage.
Applications to be marked as such and to be in the
hands of the Clerk by March 4, 1967.
2. TENDERS will be received by the Township of Stanley
for SPRAYING cattle for Warble Fly Control for 1967.
The Township will supply the powder. Tender to state
price per head per spray.
3. TENDERS will be received for supplying approximately
1000 pounds of WARBLE FLY POWDER, to be de-
livered to the township shed in Varna, quoted in 1 -Ib.
bags and 15 -Ib. bags.
Sealed tenders for each of the above, clearly marked
as to contents, will be received by the undersigned until
March 4, 1967.

FEBRUARY, 1757
A large barn on the farm of
Roy Mason, 18th con. Stephen,
three miles east of Grand Bend,
was destroyed by fire early
Monday night with a loss of
over $10,000, partly covered by
insurance. Ile was able to save
his cattle; several pigs were

Discuss Gowns
The Women's Missionary So-
ciety of Carmel Presbyterian
Church met recently, when the
president, Mrs. Earl Campbell,
opened the meeting with •a
short prayer. Mrs. Malcolm
Dougall conducted the devo-
tional using the theme, "Church-
es in early Canada". Mrs.
Archie Hoggarth read scripture
passages.
The Ladies' Aid held a brief
business meeting with Mrs.
Harvey Hyde presiding, when
purchase of new choir gowns
were discussed. The group are
planning for a centennial fowl
supper, Thursday, October 12.

The Zurich Flyers are at pres-
ent deeply involved in the play-
offs, having won the first game
with Ilderton. They lost the
game at Lucan with the Ilder-
ton team on Tuesday night,
which will necessitate a third
game to be played in Lucan.
Work on the development of
the Pinery, the 4000 -acre tract
expropriated by the Ontario
Government in 1955, will start
this spring and one area is ex-
pected to be available for lim-
ited public use about the mid-
dle of the summer.
