Chiselhurst UCW
Chiselhurst UCW combined
their February meeting with a
pot -luck supper and quilting,
president Mrs. R. Taylor chair-
ing the meeting. Mrs Russell
Brock was in charge of the wor-
ship using the theme, "The Lord
is they keeper", followed with
Eastern Star Hold
Euchre Party
The Exeter Chapter of the
Order of the Eastern Star had
a very successful euchre at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Strang, RR 1, Hensall, Wednes-
day evening, February 15, with
21 tables in play.
The winners were: ladies,
first, Mrs. W. J. F. Bell, Kippen;
gents, first, Don Parsons, Us -
borne; lone hands for ladies,
Mrs. George Hess, Hensall; lone
hands for men, W. J. F. Bell,
Kippen; lucky cup, Mrs. Albert
Traquair, Exeter. A delicious
luncheon was served.
MRS. MAUDE REDDEN, Editor
a missionary prayer by Mrs.
Tom Brintnell. Mrs. Earl Kins-
man contributed a reading "Giv-
ing Up", and Mrs. Percy Harris
presented the study, "Protes-
tants in Lower Canada".

Arnold Circle
The Arnold Circle of Carmel
Presbyterian . Church met Mon-
day evening for their February
meeting, with president Mrs. Al
Hoggarth presiding.
Mrs. Trevor Wilson and Mrs.
Homer Campbell gave the wor-
ship and study, the topic being,
"Why Worship". Nine mem-
bers answered to the roll call.
Valentine boxes were deliv-
ered to 17 patients in the
Queensway Nursing Horne, Hen-
sall, by Mrs. Homer Campbell
and Mrs. Gordon Schwalm.
Contests were enjoyed and
lunch served by Mrs. Mildred
Bell and Mrs. Schwalm.

4-H Club
The 4-H Hensall Honeys Club
met at the home •of Mrs. R. M.
Peck on Monday vening for the
third meeting. After a discus-
sion of the British traditions,
led by Mrs. Harry Caldwell,
Mrs. Peck with the assistance
of Linda Hay and Mary Mock
made .a finnan haddie with egg
sauce, and an English trifle.
Both dishes were very tasty.
Kippen East Women's Institute Hear
Committee Reports at February Meet
Regular .meeting of Kippen Cooper, Mrs. William Bell and
East WI was held at the home
of Mrs. James Drummond, Feb-
ruary 15, with Mrs. Ken McKay
as co -hostess. President Mrs.
Grant MacLean opened the
meeting with a Valentine poem,
after which the opening ode
was was sung. The Marry Stew-
art Collect followed.
"I Love a Lassie" was sung
and the roll call was answered
by, "the most absent-minded
thing I have done". Mrs. John
Sinclair, reporting for the his-
torical research committee, read
a news item regarding a tragedy
in Kippen Presbyterian Church
in 1903, when fire broke out
during a supper for Sunday
school children. Mrs. Maude
Redden, of Hensall, who eon -
tributes news items is credited
with recalling this news item.
The minutes of the last meet-
ing were read by Mrs. Drum-
mond, who drew attention of
the members to important items
in "The Home and Country".
She then presented the presi-
dent, Mrs. MacLean, with a gift.
The business included the
finalizing of plans to visit Sea -
forth Manor on March 8 and the
euchre to be held in the Legion
Hall, February 17. Mrs. Joyce
Mrs. Robert Bell were appoint-
ed to the nominating commit-
tee.
Mrs. Vern Alderdice gave the
treasurer's reports. Mrs. Joyce
Cooper reported for agriculture
and Canadian industries, and
Mrs. John McGregor reported
on citizenship and education.
Mrs. Ross Sararas, in her report
for home economics and health,
presented the members with
recipes and also marshmallow
treats.
Mrs. Robert Kinsmen com-
mented on the motto, "It is nice
to be important, but is impor-
tant to be nice".
Mrs. Robert Simpson, of Hen-
sall, a former member, took the
topic •on public relations in her
usual able manner. Mrs. Ken
McKay gave a very informative
account of the history of Al-
berta.
Mrs. Fred Beer, South Huron
district president, brought greet-
ings from the district. Mrs.
William Kyle gave courtesy re-
marks, and Mrs. Ross Sararas
conducted a contest. Lunch
was served by the hostesses and
the committee composed of
Mrs. Sinclair, Mrs. Doug Mc-
Gregor, Mrs. Cecil Pullman.

Honor Bride
Miss Margaret Boa has been
honored at several pre -nuptial
presentations prior to her mar-
riage Saturday, February 18, in
Hensall United Church. At
Chiselhurst United C h u r c h
school room a shower was held
Friday evening attended by 45
neighbors and friends.
The presentation address to
Margaret was read by Mrs. Tom
Brintnell and gifts presented by
Karen Shiels, of Hensall, in a
decorated wagon. A program
was enjoyed consisting of read-
ings by Mrs. R. Taylor and Mrs.
Brintnell, a quartet composed
of 5'oyce Ferguson, Lynda and
Kathy Ferguson and Pat Park-
er, in 1867 costumes, sang three
numbers.
Shirley Brintnell and Jean
Cole, also in costume, favored
duets. Contests were enjoyed
and lunch served. Mrs. Tom
Brintnell and Mrs. Mae Mc-
Lellan were in charge of ar-
rangements. The guest of honor
was the recipient of many beau-
tiful gifts.
Mrs. George Boa was hostess
at her home Monday evening
for a miscellaneous shower at-
tended by 30 relatives and
friends. Presentation address
was read by Mrs. George Shiels,
and gifts presented by Karen
Shiels and Gail Harburn in a
decorated basket. During the
evening the bride's trousseau
and gifts were displayed. For
entertainment Mrs. Larry Gar-
diner, of Cromarty, gave a read-
ing and contests were enjoyed,
and lunch served. Margaret re-
ceived many lovely gifts and
expressed her thanks and ap-
preciation.
Area Couple are
Honored in Florida
On Anniversary
A very interesting evening
was held at Haines City Tourist
Club in Florida on February 14,
it being the wedding annivers-
ary of Mr. and Mrs. George C.
Henderson. Mrs. Alex McGreg-
or chaired the meeting for the
evening.
Alex McGregor introduced
their friends from Ontario, St.
Petersburg, Clearwater and
Winterhaven, which in all num-
bered 135 guests. The bride
and groom corsages were cent
by their children, John, Clifford
and Wonneta, of Ontario. The
floral table centre was sent by
their nephew, Myron Ilender-
son, of Thamesford.
The program consisted of
musical numbers, readings and
solos. The write-up of the wed-
ding 50 years ago and up to the
present was given.
Telegrams and 'letters of con-
gratulations were received from
the Hon. John Diefenbaker, the
Hon, John Robarts, the Hon.
Charle MacNaughton and Rob-
ert McKinley, MPP for Huron
County.
Among their Canadian guests
who served the lunch were:
Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClinchey,
Clinton; Mr. and Mrs. E. Lay-
ton, Brucefield; Mr. and Mrs.
Alex McGregor, Kippen; Mrs.
Edna Caldwell, Kippen.
Mr. Henderson expressed his
appreciation and thanks to
everyone that helped make the
evening a success. The Hend-
erson couple live in their home
at Brucefield in the summer
and spend the winter at their
home in Minerva Park, Haines
City, Florida.

The First Hensall Brownie
Pack welcomed a new member
on February 7, when Daneen
Ward was enrolled in a cere-
mony by Brown Owl Mrs. Rob-
ert Cook.
Last Tuesday, February 14,
five Brownies, Patty Van Wier -
en, Joan Allan, Jayne Williams,
Jane Heal and Joan Goddard,
were presented with their Gold-
en Hands by Brown Owl Mrs.
Robert Cook, in a brief cere-
mony beside the Toadstool.
Proficiency badges were also
awarded as follows: Patty Van
Wieren, House Orderly and
Writer's badges; Nancy Stret-
ton, House Orderly badge; Linda
Beer and Jane Heal, Minstrel
badges.
Skating tests were passed last
week by Judith Mickle, Anne
Knight, Nancy Stretton, Linda
Beer, Jayne Williams Jane Heal
and Cindy Parker,
