Week of Prayer in
Zurich Churches
Special services are being
held throughout North America
during this next week. set aside
as the "Week of Prayer for
Christian Unity". In co-opera-
tion with the Canadian Council
of Churches the congregations
of the Lutheran, Mennonite and
'United Brethren are holding
such services.
Tuesday, January 17. the serv-
ice will be at 8 p.m. in St.
Peter's Lutheran Church under
the direction of the Rev. Mr.
Blackwell.
Wednesday night at 8 the
service of prayer will convene
under the leadership of Pastor
Ephriam Gingerich,
On Thursday night at 8 it,
will be held at Emmanuel EM'.TB
Church with the minister, M.
Shatto, in charge.
Fora number of years now
churches cif various denomina-
tional backgrounds have been
gathering together to make
special prayer for fostering a
bond of unity among the fol-
lowers of Jesus of Nazareth.;
This has become known as the!
"Week of Prayer".

On Thursday night of last
week the H -Z Juveniles, after
beating Ripley on Tuesday
night, travelled to Lisowel to
entertain the Listowell crew.
The game was a low scoring
affair, as the score was 3-1.
Scorer for Zurich was Kevin
McKinnon. The game was a
clean one, as only six penalties
were called, which is quite a
change from their previous
games.
Rick Jeffrey, playing his third
Thiu'Sday, Friday and game in as many nights, was
outstanding in the nets for
Saturday Night Hensall-Zurich, and with a Iittle
more luck his teammates could
have provided •him with a tie
or possibly a win as they missed

Friday Night
On Friday night of Iast week
the H -Z Juveniles played host
to the RCAF intermediate "D"
team from Clinton. H -Z gave a
good account of themselves as
they were only beaten by a
score of 6-2. Scorers for H -Z
were Charlie Schwalm and Bill
Hoffman. Gary Geoffrey, on,
holidays from Brockville where
he is attending school, played
in the nets for the Juveniles
and was brilliant as he, time
and time again, stopped the
hard shots of the airmen.
Midgets Win and Lose
On Wednesday night of last
week the Zurich Lions Midgets
won their first game of the
season with a convincing 7-5
victory over Milverton. Ron
Corriveau was the star of the
game as he led the Zurich at-
tack with three big goals. Other
scorers for Zurich were Rich
Sehilbe with two and singles
going to Fred Armstrong and
Aubrey Bedard.
Milverton jumped to a quick
2-0 lead in the first period but
Zurich settled down and out-
played their opponents for the

New Year's day, besides pass-
ing on good wishes to one an-
other, is also a day when we
can look back during the light
and breath of the past year, the
good deeds we have performed
and the good we imparted to
the people in need of our help.
It is also known by many to be
a day to take resolutions to
combat some fault, habit or evil
doing committed •during the
past year. Naturally many will
fall by the wayside, that does
not mean condemnation, it is
to arise again with firmer steps.
By so doing we can be ascer-
tained that we will be rewarded
for our efforts and by so doing
we will conquer much of the
evil which we are tempted
when going through •life, and
as well will give an example
for others to follow.

Saturday night the Midgets
seemed to be a bit off form as
they were whitewashed by Clin-
ton, 16-0. Zurich never did get
rolling as they trailed 4-0 at
the end of the first and 9-0 at
the end of the second period.
Bantams Lose Two
Wednsday night of last week
the Zurich Bantams played a
fairly good game, but lost to
Hensall by the score of 8-5.
Scorers for Zurich were Doug
Coxon with the hat trick, and
Gary Hess and Dino Desjardine
with one apiece,
Zurich trailed at one time,
4-1, and fought back to tie the
game, but couldn't get the go-
ahead goal. Hensall outscored
them in the last period, 3-1,
On Saturday night the Ban-
tams were thumped by the Clin-
ton Bantams by a score •of 11-4.
Scorers for Zurich in the game
were Doug Coxon, Larry Den-
omme, Head Corriveau and
Richard Walker. Zurich was
completely outplayed for two
periods, but in the third they
held their own as they were
only outscored 3-2.
Peewees Lose Twice
On Wednesday night of last
week the Zurich PeeWees were

Squirts Win Again
The Zurich Squirts on Sat-
urday night won their second
game in a row as they defeated
Mitchell 5-2. Gerald Weido
was by far the star of the game
as he popped in four big goals,
with the other going to Derek
O'Brien. The Squirts are the
winningest team in Zurich so
far this season.
