News of Dashwood District
Dashwood W I
The January meeting of the
Dashwood WI was in charge of
the historical research and cur-
rent events group, with Mrs.
Leonard Schenk, convenor. Roll
call, "name •a change in your
town in the last year", was both
informative and amusing. Mrs.
Harold Kellerman discussed the
motto, "all history was once a
current event". Mrs. Charles
Snell gave current events.
Mrs. Irvin Rader had the
Tweedsmuir history book on
display and spoke on its value
and how members could con-
tribute. Mrs. Rudolph Miller
led in a sing -song of old-time
pieces.
Several of the 4-H girls were
present and had their books on
display. Miss Dara Goodale ex-
plained the skit they had given
at Achievement Day for her
group. Miss Beth Snell ex-
plained their demonstration.
President Mrs. Glen Webb
presented gifts to Beth Snell
for county honors. Diane Weber
will receive a tray for provin-
cial honors. The leaders, Mrs.
Eben Weigand and Mrs. Gordon
Bender and assistants Norma
Weigand and Diane Weber,
were presented gifts. The new
training school will be held in
Hensall, February 2 and 3, and
will be a centennial project.
The WI will sponsor a euchre
in the Community Centre, Jan-
uary 24, at 8 o'clock. Mrs. Syd
Baker reported on the fall ex-
ecutive meeting. Plans for cen-
tennial projects were discussed.
The meeting closed with "The
Delay Opening of
Huronview Wing
There will be •a five-month
delay in the official opening of
the new special care wing at
Huronview, near Clinton, it was
announced this week.
Harvey Johnston, home su-
perintendent, said the $737,423
addition which will increase the
home's capacity by 75 beds will
open officially on June 11, not
January 12 as previously hoped.
A shortage of electrical sup-
plies and millwork has been
blamed for the delay.
However, some offices and a
few beds are expected to be
occupied by March.
IN MEMORIAM
HEDDEN—In loving memory of
Mrs. Catherine Hedden, who
passed away five years ago, on
January 14, 1962.
Resting where no shadows fall,
In :perfect peace she waits us all,
Where God will link the broken
chain,
As one by one, we meet again.
—Always remembered by her_
family.

to provide the customary dinner for the group. Since the
inaugural dinner is always e treat on the reeve of the
municipality, reeve Leroy Thiel donated the equivalent to
the centennial fund, and Mrs. Gascho provided the meal.
